The NBCU Local Technology & Operations organization provides Technology & Workflow Solutions, Support, Media Operations, Production, Studio and Facilities services that power NBCU Local content creation and distribution.
Job Description
We are looking for a Facility Engineer to join the Technology & Operations team in San Diego, CA, supporting KNSD and KUAN. The Facility Engineer reports to the Director of Technology and is responsible for performing support and maintenance functions for the facility and other building needs by partnering with Technology, Operations, News, Finance and Human Resources Management to ensure compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety regulation in the facility as well as day to day facilities operations support including HVAC, Electrical, Janitorial, Parking, Construction, Security, Deliveries and other building needs. Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for compliance and operation of facility including building code requirements and permitting, electrical and fire sprinkler systems, HVAC and BMS systems and building alarms systems.
- Environmental, Health and Safety lead which ensures regulatory and non-regulatory requirements are routinely performed, recorded, and enforced.
- Responsible for coordinating with clients, construction crews, vendors, city officials and deliveries that need access to facility
- Provide purchasing assistance with entering orders in accounting system
- Provide basic facility support to ensure facility is properly maintained along with keeping building documentation updated.
- Perform regular site inspections for safety and aesthetics with service providers, property managers, and visitors to ensure proper building maintenance and functionality is consistent with Company EHS requirements and audit findings.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in facilities or building maintenance/management
- Knowledge of basic commercial HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical
- Working knowledge of facility maintenance tasks
- Strong aptitude for complex problem solving and an ability to identify and implement process improvement and change management
- Superior organizational skills
- Ability to navigate computer and mobile apps to access work related platforms
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with accuracy
- Ability to write, speak and present effectively
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, bend
- Willing and able to work longer hours when necessary
Skills & Experience
- Ability to adapt and work well in a fast-paced, results-oriented and rapidly changing environment Demonstrated ability to deliver on multiple assignments, meet tight deadlines, and be effective and decisive under pressure
- Past work experience in facility management preferred, production studio experience a plus.
- General handyman skills a plus.
- Understand EHS or Risk Management which involves e-waste, universal and hazardous material waste Project Management
- Facility Maintenance Professional (FMP)
- Sustainable Facilities Professional (SFP)

- Must be willing to work in San Diego, CA
- Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours, and on weekends with short notice
- Must be willing to submit to a background check
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
