Job Description

NBCUniversal has an opportunity for a talented individual to join their dynamic Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Team. The purpose of this position is to support the Environmental Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) and help ensure legal compliance with all relevant local statutory requirements. The successful candidate will develop, build and maintain close relationships with business leaders and actively promote health and safety across the region.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Active development, updating and implementation of EHS programs and EHS Intranet in collaboration with EHS team
  • Assist sites in implementation of the EHS Management System and audit preparation, including participation in the EHS Audit program
  • Assist with maintaining the quality and accuracy of templates, training presentations and EHS program documentation to ensure accurate and consistent information is available to staff providing EHS services
  • Work with business leaders to drive EHS improvements against goals and objectives (as part of the overall performance requirements)
  • Assist in the management of contractors by reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements prior to the commencement of planned works
  • Develop risk assessments according to relevant regulatory authorities and/or guidelines as required
  • Report reportable incidents to Corporate EHS leadership and appropriate external agency in a timely manner, lead accident investigations, (log, determine root cause, corrective actions)
  • Review and update site training matrix and arrange training for team members (first aid, fire warden, etc.) and induction for new personnel
  • Support and collaborate with all other cross-functional partners; Security, Crisis Management, Business Continuity IT, Real Estate and Facilities
  • Liaise with external stakeholders as required by leadership
  • Compile a weekly EHS summary report
  • Manage the health and safety requirements for special events and where necessary undertake site visits, conduct risk assessments and provide safety briefings
  • Responding to emergency incidents 
  • Liaise with local external agencies including Police and other Government Agencies on security or criminal investigation issues as directed by Corporate EHS leadership and/or NBCU Global Security leadership

Any other duties seen as reasonable by Corporate EHS leadership

Qualifications

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, Life Sciences; Biology or Chemistry degrees strongly preferred. 
  • 5-7 years of EHS related work experience 
  • Prior experience developing and executing on EHS related training programs.

  • Strong professional communication and written skills 
  • Ability to positively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Must be highly organized and possess strong prioritization skills, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must possess superior soft skills, adaptability, and flexibility to implement practical programs 
  • Independent problem solving with minimal supervision. This includes the ability to interpret regulations and develop guidance around program implementation
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
