Job Description

TODAY Digital is looking for an Editorial Assistant to support Shop TODAY’s editorial and commerce initiatives, specifically assisting in the editorial execution of Shop TODAY's commerce coverage across daily programming. This role serves as a key liaison between the editorial and production teams, writing commerce content tied to on-air segments, identifying timely shopping trends, maintaining editorial planning tools, and ensuring seamless coordination before, during and after broadcast segments air.

The ideal candidate is an organized, detail-oriented writer with strong commerce instincts who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom environment. This position requires excellent editorial judgment, strong writing skills, an understanding of SEO and audience trends, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write broadcast-related commerce articles and execute day-of-air refreshes, price checks and updates to ensure articles remain accurate and current.
  • Refresh high-priority articles and evergreen commerce content as assigned.
  • Pitch products for broadcast segments using analytics and historical brand data to ensure pitches are relevant and expected top performers
  • Maintain and update the various editorial calendars & trackers for the team, ensuring alignment across broadcast programming and editorial coverage.
  • Help with SEO, digital, trending and seasonal story coverage as needed.
  • Support editorial coverage for major shopping events, including Prime Day and Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
  • Monitor story performance using analytics platforms and use insights to improve content, headlines, product curation and overall strategy
  • Collaborate with SEO, social and audience teams to maximize reach and conversions

Qualifications

  • Related experience in lifestyle, commerce or service journalism
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to write clean, engaging and conversion-minded copy
  • Experience working efficiently and accurately in a deadline-driven environment, managing multiple projects
  • Interest in shopping and lifestyle trends 
  • Experience writing and editing in a CMS preferred
  • Experience utilizing SEO best practices and tools
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and knowledge of AP style
  • Sharp editorial judgement and a clear understanding of the Shop TODAY voice and audience
  • Experience working on a broadcast-driven brand in the lifestyle space is a plus
  • E-commerce editorial experience preferred; familiarity with affiliate marketing platforms a plus
