Job Description

Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting role is part of the corporate controllership function, which is centralized in NY and has responsibilities over the corporate function in NY, NY and London, UK. This role is responsible for supporting the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely, and assisting with the reporting of results in accordance with GAAP. The role will help standardize existing processes, identify business process efficiencies, support best practices, and contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives. This position will work as a member of a cohesive team that can successfully meet tight deadlines and respond quickly to changes in the business environment and will report to the Director, Corporate Accounting.

The ideal candidate would have an accounting degree with 3+ years of experience and strong technical knowledge of general accounting activities. A qualified candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, able to multi-task, and comfortable balancing priorities across competing initiatives.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • Support monthly and quarterly closing processes, including preparation of journal entries, intercompany processing and reporting, and corporate data requests. This includes working closely with operating companies, both domestic and international.
  • Assist with ad hoc data requests across various areas of the corporate controllership function.
  • Work closely with the Corporate HQ Controllership team and international business teams to help ensure monthly and quarterly close-to-report timelines are met.
  • Coordinate with the NBCU Global Finance Organization service provider on outsourced tasks and help ensure transactions are recorded timely and accurately.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and related analysis as required.
  • Prepare intercompany recharges, both intergroup and to other business units within NBCUniversal, Comcast, and SKY, as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual accounts for UK statutory reporting purposes
  • Assist in the annual UK audit by providing support for requests from external auditors.
  • Support business process redesign efforts and the implementation of new applications, including testing, documentation, and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of experience in Accounting
  • CPA or on track
  • Big Four Public Accounting Experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills (including v-lookup, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SAP/S4 and Blackline functionality preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (when communicating to peers and upper management)
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude and a team-player
  • Experience working in a large multinational corporation with transfer pricing requirements is preferred
  • Critical thinker and ability to research ad hoc accounting issues
  • Experience working with AI (Copilot preferred)
  • Acute attention to detail

Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
