Academic Year Internship Program Details
Program Dates: September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027
Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.
Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Universal City, CA.

Operations & Technology: (O&T) is a $1B operating cash flow ($1.5B FCF) division of NBCUniversal. The group functions as a global shared service within NBCUniversal performing critical functions including Media, Broadcast and Studio Operations & Production, Content Supply Chain, Information Technology and Engineering, as well as Cyber Security. The group operates from numerous locations around the world, including New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Denver, Connecticut, and London.
Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
Decision Sciences, Peacock Strategic Analytics: The charter of the Peacock Strategic Analytics team is to uncover insights that drive decision-making for cross-functional initiatives and strategic priorities for the business. As an intern on the Peacock Strategic Analytics team, you will play a key role in supporting high-profile projects that make a tangible impact. You will have the opportunity to utilize large-scale data sets to creatively solve real-life business problems and help drive data-driven strategies across the Peacock organization.
Decision Sciences, Content Science: Our Data Science internship program offers hands-on experience within a real-world data science environment, leveraging cutting-edge tools and technologies while providing broad exposure to the media industry. Interns are embedded within teams and contribute to projects with defined responsibilities, goals, and timelines, supporting data-driven strategic decision-making across the business. In this role, interns assist with research and development of new methodologies, including Generative AI solutions, build predictive and inferential statistical or machine learning models, contribute to the development of data pipelines and internal tools, and create interactive visualizations that communicate complex insights clearly and effectively.
O&T, West Coast Studio Operations, SO Studio Services – Global Inventory Planning: The Global Inventory Planning is composed of 3 different functional teams: Systems, Inventory, and Billing Management. Our group supports the back-of-house operations of the Studio Operations org (Arts, Transportation, and Set Lighting and Grip) across all their locations (LA, ATL, IL, NM, NY, and UK). This intern will be exposed to all those areas of the org, as their focus would be on the Systems. Our Systems Team manages, builds, and supports all Operations users in the different systems they use and process enhancements that may require technology, such as building visualizations within Power BI of each of the departments' performance matrices.
O&T, FTVS Studio Services – Metadata Gov: The Enterprise Metadata Governance Team oversees the collection, curation, and maintenance of metadata for film and television products. We partner closely with a wide range of internal teams and systems to ensure all metadata is accurate, consistent, and aligned with enterprise standards. We are currently developing TalentHub, a new centralized platform for managing cast and crew metadata. As we prepare to migrate data from our legacy system into this new solution, ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and overall quality of our existing records is essential. The intern will play a key role in this effort by reviewing, validating, and enhancing metadata, helping establish a clean, reliable foundation for TalentHub’s successful launch.
O&T, Corp Tech – Data & Analytics: This team manages financial and HR applications that provide a comprehensive view of financial operations and workforce management across a large media organization. The intern will gain exposure to media finance processes and the enterprise technologies that support them, while contributing to key initiatives in planning and analytics. Responsibilities include building proof of concepts in the Planning and Analytics space, developing AI-driven solutions for planning and analytics use cases, and creating data pipelines to support human capital management.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027). December 2026 graduates are not eligible for this Academic Year Internship Program.
- Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
- Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
- Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.
For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.
Desired Characteristics:
- Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Experience with SQL or similar programming languages (R, Python, etc.) and proficiency with Excel.
- Experience with BI visualization tools, a plus (Tableau, Domo, Looker, etc.).
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
- Prior experience with Machine Learning and/or statistical modelling.
- Working knowledge of statistics and its applications for inferential data analysis.
- Familiarity with Spark, Databricks and/or AWS.
- Familiarity with Power BI, including building dashboards, creating DAX measures, and designing intuitive visual layouts.
- Understanding of data sources and basic data modeling to support accurate and insightful reporting.
- Good understanding of financial data.
- Understanding of SAP is a plus.
For Strategic Analytics and Content Science:
- The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $30.00.
- The hourly rate for graduate student interns is $35.00.
For SO Studio Services – Global Inventory Planning:
The hourly rate for student interns is $25.00.
For FTVS Studio Dist – Metadata Gov:
The hourly rate for student interns is $35.00.
For Corp Tech – Data & Analytics:
The hourly rate for student interns is $40.00.
