Job Description

Looking to ace your upcoming academic year? As an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern, you’ll work on real projects, be part of our collaborative culture, and get the support you need to grow - across two full semesters. Our Internship Program is all about impact, giving you the chance to contribute to meaningful work while building skills that matter. Academic Year Internship Program Details

Program Dates: September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027

Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.  We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from New York, NY.

NBCUniversal Local is NBCUniversal’s local media division that delivers English and Spanish-speakers and bilingual audiences in 31 U.S. markets and Puerto Rico, the very best in local sports, news, weather, consumer and investigative reporting, and lifestyle entertainment across any platform and screen. NBCUniversal Local is comprised of three individual media groups including the NBC Owned Television Stations, the NBC Sports Regional Networks and the Telemundo Station Group. NBCUniversal Local’s stations and networks serve diverse audiences and communities across linear, streaming, OTT, digital web, mobile and audio, and cable platforms and work together to keep local audiences informed anytime and anywhere.  

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Change Communication (Global Controllership - Finance): The Change Communication team delivers outcome-oriented approaches that inform and inspire understanding, skills, and the mindset needed for people to adopt new ways of working. The team works in close coordination with program leads to design messaging, change communication plans, and training to help individuals and teams realize change – whether it be a policy, process, or technology implementation. The Change Communication team is part of Global Controllership, situated within Finance. The team reports directly to the Program Planning, Execution, and Change Management Center of Excellence (CoE). During their time with the team, the Change Communication intern will have exposure to global programs such as the ongoing SAP S/4HANA Finance technology implementation. They will have opportunities to plan and deliver messaging to large audiences through town halls and newsletters and they will have the chance to design, create, and deliver the upgrade of the Global Finance Operations online site that supports materials available across NBCUniversal.
  • CorporateInclusion: The NBCUniversal Corporate Inclusion team works closely with Learning & Development, Early Careers, Talent Branding, Human Resources, CSR, Corporate Communications, and enterprise-wise business units to further the Company’s inclusion initiatives. Responsibilities may include maintaining and updating databases and distribution lists, regularly communicating and maintaining relationships with 200+ leaders and Corporate Inclusion practitioners across the Company, creating and maintaining key resource documents for internal and external audiences, and assisting with events including handling guest registration and logistics.     
  • Corporate Social Responsibility: The NBCU Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team oversees the Company’s volunteering and social impact efforts including: Comcast NBCUnites - the company’s employee volunteering program, NBCUniversal Local Impact and Foundation grant making programs, Creative Impact Lab - the company’s initiative to provide opportunities for apprentices to hone their production skills, and The More You Know - the company’s PSA campaign. In addition, the CSR group manages the marketing and communication of these respective platforms and works cross-company to support the NBCU businesses in their pro social brand and cause marketing campaigns. The internship will be a great opportunity for a candidate interested in the intersection of business and social purpose, looking to deepen their understanding of employee relations and volunteering along with philanthropy and cause marketing, while building skills and gaining experience as a researcher, event planner, marketer, and communicator.  
  • Executive Search:This is an exciting internship opportunity to learn the ins and outs of NBCUniversal’s Global Executive Search Team. The Executive Search team is responsible for managing Vice President and higher-level assignments throughout the NBCU organization. Their focus is on identifying and recruiting outstanding leadership talent capable of driving transformation and strengthening NBCU's position as a leading, innovative media company. Interns play a vital role in supporting the research function, contributing to proactive talent pipelining, market mapping initiatives, and overall knowledge management for the team.
  • NBCU Local Human Resources: NBCU Local HR supports the Local Headquarter team comprised of Sales, Marketing, Digital, Finance, Affiliate Relations, Diginets, and Tech Ops that impact the entire division. This department partners closely with HR teams at the individual stations. The NBCU Local HR intern will be responsible for assignments including helping revamp the new hire orientation, assisting with professional development programs, supporting compensation planning, participating in performance management meetings, assisting with transactions, aggregating our Learning and Development initiatives, and participating in creating and launching engagement events. 
  • Training Coordination (Global Controllership - Finance): The Change Communication team delivers outcome-oriented approaches that inform and inspire understanding, skills, and the mindset needed for people to adopt new ways of working. The team works in close coordination with program leads to design messaging, change communication plans, and training to help individuals and teams realize change – whether it be a policy, process, or technology implementation. The Change Communication team is part of Global Controllership, situated within Finance. The team reports directly to the Program Planning, Execution, and Change Management Center of Excellence (CoE). During their time with the team, the Training Coordination intern will support end user training deliveries for the global SAP S/4HANA implementation called Project Keystone. This is expected to include planning, scheduling, facilitating enrolment, communication, coordination of Program material distribution, organization for classrooms onsite, and virtual support in conjunction with local technology, HR, and facilities contacts.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027). December 2026 graduates are not eligible for this Academic Year Internship Program. 
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY.

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire. 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Interest in the HR field, corporate communications and culture, and/or employee engagement.   
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.   
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to self-start and streamline.   
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with professional communication at all levels.   
  • Well-organized with strong time management & multi-tasking skills.   
  • Ability to take direction from multiple stakeholders & balance numerous projects simultaneously.   
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).      
  • Experience with SAP a plus.   

The hourly rate for student interns in HR internships is $19.00.

The hourly rate for student interns in finance internships is $25.00.
