Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION – The Director, Current Development leads the creative execution of greenlit scripted projects, partnering closely with the VP of Development to drive projects from script development through production‑ready delivery. The role serves as the primary executive liaison to writers, production partners, and internal teams, requiring strong narrative judgment and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Creative Development & Supervision
- Lead the creative development of greenlit scripted projects from concept through assigned episodes, serving as the primary day‑to‑day creative executive.
- Provide high‑level creative notes on outlines, treatments, scripts, and series bibles to ensure narrative cohesion and quality.
- Partner with senior leadership on creative strategy, analysis, and recommendations.
- Deliver clear, actionable feedback to writing teams while respecting creative voice.
Writing Team Leadership
- Serve as the primary liaison between Development and writers, co‑writers, and advisors.
- Manage creative workflows, delivery timelines, and development sessions, including writers’ rooms.
- Navigate creative challenges with sound judgment and recommend additional creative resources as needed.
Project & Cross‑Functional Coordination
- Track development progress, decisions, and next steps across active projects.
- Maintain organized creative materials and version control.
- Prepare concise status updates and coordinate with internal partners (Production, Casting, Legal, Business Affairs, Design) to support development milestones.
Pitching & Presentation Support
- Contribute to internal and external pitch materials, including decks and pilot presentations.
- Support project presentations to internal stakeholders and network partners.
Content Strategy & Market Awareness
- Maintain awareness of Spanish‑language scripted trends across U.S. Hispanic and international markets.
- Provide relevant genre and creative references to inform and elevate development.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Film, Literature, Screenwriting, or a related field. Graduate degree in Creative Writing, Television Production, or a related discipline is a plus.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in scripted content development for broadcast television or streaming platforms, with at least 4 years in a creative executive capacity.
- Demonstrated experience on telenovela or serialized Spanish-language drama projects for US Hispanic or LATAM audiences (broadcast or streaming)
- Proven track record in supervising writing teams and delivering executive script feedback documents.
- Experience working in high-volume environments with 3–6 concurrent active projects while sustaining consistent quality standards.
Additional Requirements:
- Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
