NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution is responsible for the licensing and distribution of NBCUniversal product to all forms of television and new media platforms in the U.S., Canada and in over 200 territories internationally. NBCUniversal’s content portfolio includes a vast and diverse library of more than 6,500 feature films and 170,000 television episodes, including current and classic titles, non-scripted programming, kids, sports, news, long-form and short-form programming from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, Universal Television, UCP, Universal International Studios, Sky Studios, NBC Late Night properties, DreamWorks Animation, Telemundo, and more, as well as locally produced content from around the world. Overview:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for contract processing and revenue accounting activities within the revenue accounting subledger system, supporting Global Television Distribution’s Order to Cash process. This role is accountable for accurate and timely US GAAP revenue recognition, monthly and quarterly contract close activities, SOX compliance, and audit support, while contributing to initiatives focused on simplifying, standardizing, and improving contractual revenue accounting processes. The role will report into the Director, Accounting, and will work closely with key business partners and stakeholders, including Global Distribution FP&A, Sales Administration, Legal, IT, Technical Accounting, and Internal and External Auditors, across domestic and international operations.
Responsibilities:
- Process and analyze new licensing contracts and contract revisions in the revenue accounting subledger system to ensure proper accounting treatment and revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606
- Interpret licensing agreements to identify key accounting implications; partner with Technical Accounting to resolve complex or non-standard issues
- Evaluate contract modifications and ensure appropriate revenue adjustments, including impacts to recognition timing, delivery requirements, and deferrals
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition for domestic and international TV distribution licensing contracts, including free and basic content licensing arrangements
- Maintain monthly and quarterly processes and SOX controls related to contract processing and revenue recognition, including delayed deliveries, revenue recognition timing, and revenue deferrals
- Prepare and review journal entries and supporting documentation for upload into SAP (General Ledger).
- Prepare and review general ledger account reconciliations in accordance with company policy, researching and resolving reconciling items
- Oversee the day‑to‑day administration of revenue contract processing activities within the subledger system
- Assist in the coordination and execution of quarterly and annual SOX and financial statement audits with internal and external auditors
- Support Order‑to‑Cash process improvement and transformation initiatives, including:
- Assisting with the assessment of current Order‑to‑Cash processes, systems, and internal controls across legal entities and geographies
- Partnering with IT and business stakeholders on system enhancements, bug fixes, and process improvements
- Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with FP&A, Sales Administration, IT, Technical Accounting, and international distribution teams
- Perform ad hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects in support of domestic and international TV distribution operations

Qualifications
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
- 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably within Television Distribution, Licensing, Media, or Entertainment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with large and complex data sets
Desired Characteristics
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, including revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Experience with revenue accounting subledgers and enterprise ERP systems (SAP, including BW, preferred)
- Solid understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
- Proven ability to drive process improvements and support system enhancements in partnership with IT
- Ability to think strategically and understand end-to-end business processes
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, and data analysis skills
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional stakeholders across global teams
- Self-motivated, organized, and proactive with strong attention to detail
- Prior management or team lead experience preferred
- Big 4 and/or entertainment industry experience a plus
- Flexibility to occasionally work outside normal business hours to support global teams
Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
