Universal Pictures International (UPI) is the International Distribution and Marketing division for Universal Pictures. In the United Kingdom, Austria, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and China, UPI directly markets and distributes movies through its local offices, creating campaigns and release strategies that respond to the culture and market behaviour of those territories. Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day management of EMEA Brand Promotions to support the release of Universal titles within the EMEA region.
- The focus of this position will be to assist in delivering significant regional and local promotions in Europe that generate exposure and where possible revenue for Universal’s films.
- Pitch, present and close multi market deals with top tier brand partners across the region.
- Manage the relationship with EMEA markets to ensure they are fully briefed, have access to pitch materials, follow strategy and report status on an ongoing basis.
- Assist in managing the EMEA Promotions agency to ensure they are fully briefed, have access to pitch materials, their pitch lists follow strategy and pitches are bespoke and tailored to each specific brand and movie.
- Manage the reporting of EMEA promotions in terms of brand pitching and locked deals.
- Manage the approval of all promotional activity in the region with the International team, EMEA team, Internal stakeholders, Consumer Products and local theatrical offices.
- Oversee the Creative kick off of all campaigns with the Creative Execution team based in LA.
- Manage all promotional admin.
- Build relationships across departments with EMEA Theatrical teams, EMEA Regional Marketing team, Global Promotions team, promotional partners, agencies and all internal stakeholders (Brand & Franchise, CP, Theatrical Departments).
Additional Responsibilities
Promotional Campaign Support:
- Assist in managing the planning, implementation and review of all brand promotional partnerships for the release of Universal titles in the EMEA region.
- Assist markets in reviewing strategy and identifying local opportunities.
- Assist the European Promotions agency in reviewing strategy and identifying European brand targets.
- Work independently and with the European Promotions agency to develop bespoke pitches, tailored to each brand approached, from concepting ideas to developing custom pitch decks with creative mock ups.
- Strategically assess and debate each promotional proposal to ensure delivery of stand out campaigns and creative excellence from promotions that are aligned with the title’s strategic objectives.
- Manage internal and external deal approvals for each promotion via Global Promotions, Consumer Products, local theatrical teams, agencies and brands as appropriate.
- Manage all promotional admin as required including reports, NDAs, promotional agreement forms, contracts, prize packages and prize fulfilment.
- Oversee day to day management of non top 5 EMEA markets.
Budget, Administration & Reporting:
- Update status reports and hot leads on an ongoing basis.
- Create campaign overview decks as appropriate.
- Collaborate with local theatrical teams on brand promotion slides for film maker presentation decks.
- Create campaign round up slides for each promotion.
- Create case studies as appropriate.
- Competitor reporting.
- Manage budgets.
- Manage internal Promotions/CP status reports.
- Manage raising NDAs and brief contracts.
- Manage compliance process with brands.
- Oversee scheduling and reporting from monthly status meetings with top 5 EMEA markets.
Creative:
- Ensure markets have access to pitch materials, promotions guides, premiums and prize package catalogues for each title.
- Manage handover of each campaign to the creative execution team based in LA.
- Develop tailored pitches and creative mock ups where appropriate.
- Assist with the creative execution of campaigns where required.
- Manage agency for promotional premiums on selected titles.
Innovation and Expertise:
- Seek out new and different approaches and ideas to bring freshness to each promotional project, ensuring that recommended ideas are within title strategy.
- Identify brands and retailers to pitch for each title on a local and regional basis.
- Identify and champion best practice – sharing best in class case studies with local teams to identify opportunities and inspire.
- Point of contact with the field to ensure they understand and follow strategic guidelines, supporting them with their needs/questions and finding solutions to problems.
- Identify emerging trends and brands to stay ahead of the competition.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be:
- You’ll already be at Partnership Manager level or equivalent with experience in EMEA partnership marketing.
- You have an impressive track record of delivering promotions that showcase a strategic and creative approach to film marketing.
- You have deep knowledge of the promotions business across key categories such as QSR but with a focus on non-traditional categories such as automotive, technology, travel, finance etc.
- Strong pitching and negotiating skills with exceptional communication skills (both oral and written).
- Ability to manage multiple contacts in many different territories.
- You are a strong team player with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships both internally within the organisation and externally.
- You possess excellent organisational skills, including a strong attention to detail.
- You have the ability to work under pressure in a fast moving and changing environment, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- You are proactive, self-motivated with a passion for partnerships and movies.
