Job Description
Provide day-to-day Control Room production operation for NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 in San Diego, including technical support for broadcasts on multi-channel platforms 365 days a year. This is an entry-level, part-time, vacation fill-in position averaging fewer than 25 hours per week, with opportunity for advancement.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coding and technical execution of local news and programming using the Ross Video’s Overdrive Automated Production Control environment and the Dalet’s Galaxy newsroom computer system.
- Technically produce broadcasts using a range of manual and automated processes.
- Operate robotic cameras, audio, graphic and video playback servers/devices.
- Provide direction to talent and other production crew members.
- Responsible for the ultimate technical quality of newscasts and other productions.
- Additional duties as needed/assigned.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive understanding of video production techniques (including lighting, audio, switching, editing, directing) acquired through formal education or job experience.
- Hands-on experience with production switchers, audio mixing consoles, graphics playout engines, file-based video playout, and newsroom computer systems.
- Proficiency in Windows OS, computer networking, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with any brand of Automated Production Control system a big plus.
- Knowledge of Dalet Galaxy newsroom computer system a big plus.
- Must have strong bilingual (English/Spanish) oral/written communication, interpersonal skills, the ability to work accurately and remain calm under pressure/deadlines.

- Hourly range: $30-$32/hour
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Ross Video Overdrive automated production control equipment.
- Experience with Dalet Galaxy newsroom computer system.
- Experience directing newscasts, leading a group of technical professionals.
- Experience with robotic camera operation, live audio mixing, and video ingest/editing/playback operations.
- Self-motivated, highly creative problem-solver, great team player.
