Job Description

Summer 2026 Production Software Front-End-Tools Internship: 

  • Applications close: March 16, 2026 at 11:59pm PT

  • Program Dates: June 8 - August 14, 2026

  • Time Commitment: Full-Time (40 hours per week required)

  • Format: In Person

Responsibilities: "What would you say you do here?”

During the course of a 10-week internship, interns will work closely with our world-class artists and top engineers in this field. Some of our engineers started themselves as interns here at DreamWorks and are now leading efforts that are recognized industry-wide. 

This internship is a unique opportunity to work on interesting graphics technologies in a production environment. The work will help us build tools and improve workflows for Layout and Previsualization artists using Maya and USD. You will contribute to software that is used for all feature films at the studio. Projects will vary depending on the domain expertise of the candidate.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: “What do I need to have in order to do this job?”

  • Submit your resume, cover letter, and a link to any websites (GitHub, Stack Overflow, etc) or blog indicating technical skills such as math and programming. Relevant coursework listed at the top of your resume is helpful as well

  • Majoring in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Physics, and Mathematics or related field(s)

  • Strong interest in animation; passion for how technology and art work together

  • Dedicated, resourceful, an excellent communicator, possesses critical thinking skills, and is a great teammate

  • Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at a College/University (or equivalent), or be a recent graduate (within six months of graduation date)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must be willing to work in Glendale, CA

  • Ability to provide own relocation, housing and transportation

  • Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

Desired Qualifications: “What can I offer?” 

  • Python or C++ experience

  • Experience with industry-standard DCC applications such as Maya, Houdini or Blender

  • Experience with USD

  • Ability to work within a Linux environment

Hourly Rate:  $20.00- $35.00/hr

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
