Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

About Platform Distribution & Partnerships: Platform Distribution and Partnerships is a division of NBCUniversal's media group responsible for the distribution and monetization of the company’s multi-billion-dollar linear and streaming services portfolio to pay-tv providers, NBC broadcast affiliates, consumer technology platforms and devices, and consumer brands. A key revenue-generator, the division is comprised of content distribution, affiliate relations and strategic partnerships across NBC, Peacock, Bravo, Telemundo and various FAST channels.
We are seeking a Director of Communications who will support the Platform Distribution & Partnership division and report into the SVP of Media Group Communications.
This Director will help develop, shape and execute communications strategies for the PD&P organization, driving the company’s narrative around distribution, partnerships and growth. This role is responsible for the creation and management of all comms materials for PD&P, including key messages, press releases, Q&As and more, while also supporting thought leadership efforts for the division’s executive team. The ideal candidate is passionate about the evolving landscape across media, entertainment and technology, and innately curious, collaborative and creative.
This position will be hybrid (T/W/Th now; M/T/W/Th starting in January) and based in our New York office at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the communications strategy for NBCUniversal’s Platform Distribution and Partnerships division, aligning with broader corporate priorities and Media Group narrative
- Partner with PD&P leadership to shape the division’s story, highlighting distribution growth, innovation and strategic partnerships
- Drive external positioning for NBCUniversal’s distribution and partnership initiatives; develop and manage corporate communications materials, including press releases, Q&A, talking points, speeches and presentations
- Manage crisis communications in close collaboration with Legal, Sales, Marketing, Government Affairs, and Corporate Communications; protect and strengthen NBCUniversal’s reputation across all deal negotiations and strategic partnerships
- Identify and manage thought-leadership opportunities for PD&P executives; develop executive briefing materials to support speaking engagements
- Collaborate with Partner Marketing to support co-promotional opportunities with partners, liaise with brand teams to secure talent for on/off-air marketing materials
- Cultivate media relationships with key trade and business reporters
- Work closely with Media Group internal communications and HR teams to maintain regular department programming – including All Hands, offsites to foster morale and alignment across organization
- Serve as subject matter expert on the media and distribution industry, tracking trends, competitor activity and emerging platforms to inform strategic communications
Qualifications
- 8+ years of corporate communications and/or executive communications (experience in media, entertainment, distribution, streaming and/or tech preferred)
- Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop smart, concise and impactful messaging and a strong grasp of tone, audience and channel
- Proven experience supporting senior executives
- Proven relationships with press and conference/event organizers
- Solid critical thinking skills in developing proactive solutions with long-term implications in mind, prioritizing key opportunities and anticipating issues
- Ability to work within a fast-paced matrixed corporate environment with multiple stakeholders
- Hyper-efficient and exceptional project and time management skills to handle and prioritize multiple initiatives at once and the ability to work quickly yet accurately to meet tight timelines
- Ability to collaborate across teams and demonstrates professional maturity and sound judgment, working as a trusted cross-functional lead and mentoring other team members
Additional Requirements
This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $130,000 - $170,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible).
