Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Summer 2026 Recruitment Timeline:

Summer 2026 Internship Program:

Media Tech Internship Program 

Here at NBCU, we strive to be on the forefront of leading-edge technology and are seeking a savvy troop of technologists we call Media Tech Interns. 

Our Media Tech internship program exposes students to technical opportunities across NBCUniversal’s Operations & Technology organizations and serves as the primary pathway for consideration into our Media Tech Associate Program – a challenging two-year rotational program for individuals with a passion for technology. Many of our past interns have gone on to join the Associate Program, which helps participants jump-start their careers by promoting technical breadth through mentorship, networking opportunities, and technical training. As an NBCUniversal Media Tech Intern, you will gain hands-on experience, allowing you to apply your classroom knowledge to practical situations. We offer a 2-day in-person orientation in our NY office where we bring all interns together to meet each other and various business leaders. 

Students will experience firsthand how one of the largest media and entertainment companies in the world operates and delivers strategic, innovative solutions. 

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to: 

  • FTVS Studio Tech Solutions – Digital Marketing & Operations: Our team is part of the broader organization that provides technical support and engagement to the Film Entertainment group. We collaborate closely with Global Creative Services, Digital Marketing, and Privacy Enablement to deliver technology solutions that enhance efficiency and compliance across the business. The intern will gain exposure to a mix of operational and strategic initiatives, engaging with both technical teams and business stakeholders. Key projects include implementing a new workflow system for the Global Creative Services team to modernize and streamline their existing processes, as well as aiding a separate compliance effort focused on assessing and improving security controls across a portfolio of more than 200 applications. This work involves ensuring proper data classification, implementing multi-factor authentication, federating applications, and verifying code scanning practices to name a few areas. 

  • FTVS Studio Tech Solutions – Theater Distribution: Our team: Film Distribution IT directly supports the systems that help the business plan and distribute our films into cinemas and then collect the associated revenue.  We have a diverse portfolio that offers many opportunities for the Intern to gain experience in different technologies. Exposure: the Intern will have business engagement opportunities (i.e. direct meetings with the product owners), as well as interaction with other IT groups (infrastructure, server support, engineering, etc.).  The role of Intern will be tailored to fit their experience level against the needs of the projects that he/she is assigned.  The Intern will be involved in multiple work streams across our Film Distribution projects. Current projects: ReleaseHub - standardize technology and business processes across the enterprise as it relates to Release Dates/Planning in order to align with the rapidly evolving Global Distribution business, Unistar Replatform (SMART) – move on premises SaaS client/server application to new cloud platform, and other Project Management and initiatives. 

  • FTVS Studio Tech Solutions – Marketing & Strategy: Our team is part of the Film & TV Studio Technology team that supports the Universal Entertainment Film & TV businesses (Specifically the Strategy and Marketing teams within Universal Entertainment).  Our team and assignments will strive to provide the intern with the experience to continue to another internship or the Media Tech Associate program. The intern will gain exposure to various stakeholders across O&T and Universal Entertainment Strategy and Marketing business teams. Our diverse application portfolio offers many opportunities for the Intern to gain experience in different technologies and business areas. Depending on current priorities, the intern will have the opportunity to work across some of the following projects: Studio Analytics, Marketing Supply Chain/Asset Management, and Film Strategy & Operations. 

  • Corp Tech – Data & Analytics, Finance: We are implementing an enterprise-wide Data & Analytics platform to revolutionize our Finance team's operations, addressing the limitations of our current overly complex and customized analytical environment. By adopting this advanced system now, we will enhance our financial performance and profitability analytics, outpace our competitors, and leverage real-time, accurate data insights. This transformation will streamline manual processes, improve workplace satisfaction, and ensure rapid adoption of cutting-edge technologies, positioning us as a leader in the industry, and securing our competitive edge. Interns will have the opportunity to learn and contribute how the latest technology is being implemented at an enterprise scale and how business benefits are achieved with technology - This role is looking at FP&A space. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: 

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program. Spring 2026 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2026 internship program. 
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits). 
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States. 
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week from June 1 – August 7, 2026.  
  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA. 

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.  

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.   

Desired Characteristics: 

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred. 
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 
  • Intermediate skills in Excel for tracking and analyzing data. 
  • Interest in technology, digital systems, or process improvement. 
  • Computer skills, education level, class standing in school, etc. 
  • Jira experience is a plus. 
  • Excel experience is a plus. 
  • SQL experience is a plus. 
  • Tableau, PowerBI, or Data Studio experience is a plus. 
  • Airtable, Asana, Monday is a plus. 
  • Understanding of Financial data. 
  • Ability to write code. 
  • Understanding of reporting design. 
  • Business knowledge and use of AI in business. 

The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $35.00. 

The hourly rate for graduate student interns is $35.00.
