Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Summer 2026 Recruitment Timeline:

Summer 2026 Internship Program:

Operations & Technology: (O&T) is a $1B operating cash flow ($1.5B FCF) division of NBCUniversal. The group functions as a global shared service within NBCUniversal performing critical functions including Media, Broadcast and Studio Operations & Production, Content Supply Chain, Information Technology and Engineering, as well as Cyber Security. The group operates from numerous locations around the world, including New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Denver, Connecticut, and London.   

Universal Filmed Entertainment Group: (UFEG) consists of the operations to produce, acquire, market and distribute filmed entertainment worldwide in various media formats for theatrical, home entertainment, television and other distribution platforms.  The division operates globally with colleagues spread across 20 countries. We pride ourselves in supporting and amplifying diverse stories told by unique voices. We want to bring in driven, dedicated, and diverse talent into our organization who are just as passionate as we are in continuing to tell stories that reflect our global audience.   

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Ops & Tech Human Resources: The O&T intern will have exposure to HR projects that span: onboarding, rewards and recognition, performance feedback, talent attraction and development, and HR’s business impact.  In the day to day, you will help solve problems involving: Benefits, Payroll, Compensation, HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and Data Analytics. The intern will also have exposure to the team’s union projects and CBA analysis.  
  • Global Distribution TV Human Resources: UPHE consists of approximately 200 employees based in the US, organized into departments including digital sales, marketing, finance and business operations. The Global Distribution TV intern within UPHE will report to our HR Generalist and will be directly involved in shadowing day-to-day business partnering as well as responsibility for admin support as part of our key processes set out above. Responsibilities may include: helping organize Lunch & Learns for employees (invites, bios, setup); assisting with planning and logistics for team celebrations, recognition moments, and seasonal events; supporting internal communications and culture-building initiatives (particularly those we continue to build from the TVD roundtable feedback) HR Operations & Administration; shadowing Talent Acquisition and our HR team to learn about recruiting workflows; assisting with onboarding logistics, including welcome emails, newsletters, orientation prep, and new hire checklists.
  • Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Human Resources: Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (UPHE) markets and distributes NBC Universal’s film and television offerings across transactional digital and disc formats worldwide. Distributed lines of content include contemporary and classic productions within the company’s expansive entertainment catalog, spanning properties from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, Illumination, Universal Media Studios and Peacock, as well as from select third-party partners. As an intern for the UPHE, Human Resources team, you will report to the HR Generalist while working with other members of the team to gain exposure across the business. You will partner with the HR Coordinator to learn the life-cycle processes to ensure accurate employee data and partner with the HR Director and HR Generalist to strategize and facilitate initiatives and provide day to day support to UPHE employees. Throughout your time with the UPHE HR team, you will gain exposure to entertainment industry processes that support the needs of our employees and our multi-billion-dollar global media business.
  • Universal Filmed Entertainment Internal Communications: Through internal communications, employee engagement, rewards and recognition, the intern will support the team that delivers unique experiences to thousands of employees across the globe. The People Experience intern will gain exposure to a variety of disciplines such as communications, design, and employee engagement.
  • TV Programming – Inclusion: NBCU LAUNCH is the umbrella brand that houses the comprehensive inclusion efforts across NBCUniversal’s entertainment television portfolio in support of the company’s goal to produce authentic and compelling content. These efforts span across writers, directors, unscripted producers, casting, and below-the-line crew members who work in scripted, unscripted, and late-night programming. Interns will work closely with the Executive Assistants and Coordinators to write script coverage of materials from current and alumni talent; draft summaries and provide analysis; work with the team in creating and posting social media on a weekly basis; discover NBCUniversal content, write copy, and design the social media strategy for posts across different platforms; design, develop, and contribute to the monthly internal report out, as well as other tasks.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program. Spring 2026 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2026 internship program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week from June 1 – August 7, 2026.
  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.  

Desired Characteristics:

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Interest in the HR field, corporate communications and culture, and/or employee engagement.  
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.  
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to self-start and streamline.  
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with professional communication at all levels.  
  • Well-organized with strong time management & multi-tasking skills.  
  • Ability to take direction from multiple stakeholders & balance numerous projects simultaneously.  
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).     
  • Experience with SAP a plus.  

The hourly rate for student interns is $19.00.
