Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
The Markets and News Producer is core to the CNBC News Desk. The producer is akin to a first alert system, elevating news from all corners. The producer monitors wire services, social media and speeches and works closely with all CNBC entities to make sure that all time sensitive material is on CNBC TV. The role involves working closely with the News Desk Editors, the Breaking News Desk, the Markets team, show producers and the digital news team at all times to ensure coordination and headline sharing between newsgathering groups.
What you'll do:
- Utilize wire services, financial services and social media to mine headlines
- Communicate in a timely and clear manner with the Newsdesk and control room
- Swiftly and accurately write breaking news chyrons to air immediately on CNBC TV
- Communicate seamlessly across platforms, sharing TV news with digital and vice versa.
- Work closely with editors, reporters and producers to identify and craft breaking news headlines
- Understand how to find and read financial statements, press releases
- Assist in coverage of quarterly corporate earnings

Qualifications
What you'll bring:
- In-depth knowledge of CNBC’s content and subject material and a strong interest in financial markets, economics, technology and politics
- Ability to thoroughly edit copy under tight deadlines and identify mistakes, errors and typos
- Previous experience in business news
- Knowledge of wire services and financial statements
- Understanding of global financial markets and how events in different economies and markets affect each other
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced news environment
- Ability to work as part of a team and across all departments and locations
- Excellent verbal communication skills, coupled with strong research and succinct writing skills
- Demonstrated self-starter, with the confidence to make decisions quickly in a fast-paced news environment
- Flexibility in hours
Desired characteristics:
- Experience in reading financial statements, wire copy
- Knowledge of FactSet, iNews, Slack
- Experience of working for a leading wire service or business news organization
- Experience overseeing and making decisions about news coverage Curious about the world, sees story ideas everywhere, and can’t wait to bring them back to the team
