Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
NBC News is seeking a Full Stack Developer to join our Innovation team with expertise in real-time 3D graphics, XR/VR/AR execution, and AI integration. This role develops custom applications that combine data, automation, and immersive storytelling, powering next-generation production workflows across News, Sports, and Entertainment. The position requires strong engineering capability, deep familiarity with broadcast and immersive graphics systems, and the ability to collaborate with leading AI companies and research teams to integrate frontier models into NBCU’s enterprise technology stack.
Responsibilities
- Application & Systems Development
- Architect, build, and deploy full stack applications supporting real-time graphics and live production workflows.
- Deliver scalable, modular solutions with integrations into editorial and technical control systems.
- Graphics & Real-Time Engines
- Develop and optimize broadcast and immersive workflows using Vizrt, Unreal Engine, and HTML5/WebGL.
- Implement advanced rendering solutions for live television, interactive content, and immersive experiences.
- XR/VR/AR Execution
- Lead technical execution for XR/VR/AR productions, including virtual sets, mixed reality graphics, and real-time creative experiences.
- Collaborate with production and creative teams to integrate immersive technologies into storytelling formats.
- Data Integration & Automation
- Design and implement APIs and pipelines for real-time and batch data ingestion (financial, editorial, election, sports).
- Build systems that synchronize data across broadcast, streaming, and immersive platforms.
- AI Integration
- Partner with leading AI companies and research labs to integrate frontier AI models into NBCUniversal production technology.
- Deploy large-scale ML and generative AI solutions to enhance creative storytelling, graphics automation, and content production.
- Prototype and operationalize emerging AI capabilities, including multimodal and generative frameworks.
- Collaboration & Innovation
- Partner with editorial, design, and engineering stakeholders to deliver innovative production tools.
- Drive prototyping and rapid iteration on emerging technologies that expand NBCU’s storytelling capabilities.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience as a Full Stack Developer delivering enterprise-scale applications.
- Expertise in real-time 3D graphics using Vizrt, Unreal Engine, and HTML5/WebGL.
- Experience developing for XR/VR/AR workflows and immersive storytelling environments.
- Strong knowledge of modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) and back-end development (Node.js, Python, Java).
- Skilled in API design, real-time streaming architectures, and data integration pipelines.
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker), and orchestration(Kubernetes).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in broadcast media, live production, or immersive entertainment.
- Familiarity with GPU rendering pipelines, generative AI, and multimodal ML models.
- Track record of collaboration with AI research teams and technology partners.
- Experience deploying AR/VR/XR workflows with real-time engines, tracking systems, and motion graphics integration.
