Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

CNBC Select is seeking a detail-oriented Updates Editor to lead site-wide content optimization and refresh efforts. CNBC Select is a recommendation vertical devoted to providing rigorous reviews and advice on personal finance products so our readers can make informed decisions.

This role is responsible for identifying and executing SEO strategies that enhance evergreen content, improve reader experience, and drive sustainable traffic growth without compromising editorial integrity. The editor will manage a monthly refresh calendar, lead headline updates, and collaborate closely with the team’s SEO analyst, vertical editors and compliance partners to prioritize and execute revisions. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with SEO best practices, a strong copy-editing background, and a keen eye for opportunities that can boost reach and performance across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all SEO-driven content updates across the site
  • Make suggestions to optimize evergreen content for SEO, improve reader experience and drive additional traffic that does not sacrifice editorial quality 
  • Research and perform revisions, SEO updates and rewrites in collaboration with vertical editors
  • Execute and/or lead monthly refreshes and headline updates
  • Work closely with SEO to identify key opportunities to maximize reach
  • Manage a monthly calendar of content refreshes
  • Build and edit posts in the CMS

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in digital journalism and content editing, with at least 3 years focused on SEO
  • Experience creating and managing evergreen content for a consumer-focused newsroom 
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices, including keyword search and performance tracking
  • Excellent eye for detail in copy editing, headline writing, and fact-checking
  • Proficiency with most CMS platforms, SEO and performance tracking tools 
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Experience managing a content refresh calendar or large-scale editorial projects
