Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
The Senior Manager, Investigations and Insider Threat will be a key leader within the new Versant Cyber organization. This individual is responsible for leading advanced investigative operations and developing strategies to detect, assess, and mitigate risks associated with content protection & internal threats. Reporting directly to the VP, Cyber Defense Operations, the successful candidate will be expected to leverage their technical acumen, discretion, and collaboration across various business units to protect company assets and personnel from malicious or negligent insider actions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key areas of focus for the Senior Manager, Investigations and Insider Threat include digital security operations, investigations, device forensics, e-discovery coordination, digital rights management, and data loss prevention. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:
- Oversee and conduct sensitive cybersecurity, content protection and insider threat investigations, including piracy, data loss, unauthorized access, policy violations, fraud, and misuse of corporate resources.
- Design, implement, and maintain a robust content security & insider threat detection and mitigation program aligned with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
- Utilize threat modeling, behavioral analytics, and intelligence to proactively identify potential insider risks across the enterprise.
- Promote, foster, and advocate for an environment of collaboration, diversity, and inclusion.
- Leverage deep technical capabilities to collect and analyze logs, endpoint data, and communications for investigative purposes.
- Partner across Versant Cyber to deliver a state-of-the-art data loss prevention program.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for insider-related security alerts and provide executive-level reporting on investigation outcomes, trends, and program effectiveness.
- Partner with Legal, HR, Compliance, Physical Security, and IT to ensure holistic investigations and coordinated response strategies.
- Support development of training and communication programs that promote a security-aware culture and reduce internal threat vectors.
- Ensure activities align with legal and regulatory requirements, including data privacy laws, employee monitoring policies, and corporate governance standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years working across cyber security disciplines to include but not limited to Cyber Defense, Threat Intelligence, Security Operation Centers, Vulnerability Management, and Business Engagement/Outreach.
- Strong knowledge of digital rights management, digital forensics, behavioral analytics, data loss prevention (DLP), and insider threat tools.
- Demonstrated success managing complex investigations with discretion and sound judgment.
- Experience managing a team of contractors and/or outsourced services.
- Familiarity with insider threat frameworks (e.g., NITTF, CERT), legal constraints, and regulatory considerations.
- Strong technical proficiency with forensic and eDiscovery tools (e.g., Relativity, EnCase, Cellebrite).
- Knowledge of and experience with launching or managing Watermark Technologies
- Experience handling confidential investigations and working with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field and/or equivalent work experience.
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
- Previous experience working in multiple large complex environments and specifically within the Cyber Defense components of those organizations.
- Previous experience working in cyber defense and/or information security functions in the media and advanced technology industries.
- EnCE, GCFA, GCFE, CFCE, CISSP, ACED certifications (or equivalent experience).
- Master’s Degree in an IT related field.
