Job Description
Summary:
Working in a collaborative production team environment, this role is responsible for managing, and expediting all aspects of technical design and show production support and staff as assigned regarding design, development, fabrication, installation, facility interface, operation, maintenance, and documentation in compliance with codes, and jurisdictional requirements for Entertainment projects. Must assure a flawless, and successful completion in alignment with creative, financial, and schedule targets for marquee and special events, live shows, atmosphere offerings, and special projects in a themed environment. The Assistant Technical Manager participates in these functions at a variety of levels, depending upon the individual project scope/need:
- For large-scale/marquee projects (as assigned), this position will provide support for all these functions, project-wide and/or have shared-accountability for one or more functions within a specific segment/assignment on the project.
- For medium-scale projects (as assigned), this position will provide support for all these functions, project-wide and/or have full-accountability for one or more functions within a specific segment/assignment on the project.
- For small-scale projects (as assigned), this position will have full accountabilities for all combined functions, project wide.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide direct management of project initiatives in all, or portions of areas as assigned related to technical show production, and strategy for project execution including Architecture and Engineering, equipment/systems, construction, scenic, electrical, A/V, and various other technologies
- Work as a direct contact with compliance agencies (Building and Safety, Fire Department, EHS, etc.) specifically responsible to coordinate plan reviews/submittals, permitting, inspections, and documentation, for all required permitting measures
- Work directly with various internal and external show disciplines and provide technical expertise for development and execution
- Assist Technical Manager in preparing clear and concise scope of work documentation for use in contracts
- Provide technical drafting/design
- Ensure final product meets established artistic, production and compliance standards
- Coordinate design documentation from contractors/vendors with an emphasis on checking for compliance with contractual requirements and specifications
- Monitor qualified vendors, and lead production reviews on-site and at vendor locations. Review product quality, schedule, and specifications for accuracy
- Manage transportation and overall logistics as it relates to individual project needs
- Develop detailed technical schedules, identifying and assembling necessary resources
- Provide site supervision during installation and facility impact phases
- Supporting the Entertainment Production team on completion/wrap-up of new show product and assists with the transition to operational support.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience in special events, theatrical or entertainment production/ 1 year in leadership role
- Strong leadership with ability to work well with limited information and constant change Strong in-field
- Installation experience in entertainment / theme park environment
- Working in fast-paced environments with accelerated production schedules
- Working knowledge of stage/entertainment practices, equipment, and technologies
- Proficient in CAD, Microsoft Office
- Strong awareness of Environmental Safety standards
- Confidence to effectively communicate across all lines of business, and with all levels of management.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and nights as required.
- Valid CA driver’s license

- Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, production, or related entertainment field, or equivalent work experience
- Strong awareness of Environmental Safety standards
