Job Description

As a Booking Associate Producer, you will work as part of NBC News’ Booking Unit, responsible for bookings guests across all platforms of NBC News, including TODAY, Weekend TODAY, Nightly News, Weekend Nightly News, NBC’s streaming network NBC News NOW, Meet the Press, Dateline, Specials, as well as digital platforms.

The Booking Associate Producer is an overnight position, starting around 6 PM ET and working to secure breaking news guests for TODAY, Morning News NOW, and set up the rest of the network’s daily coverage. The position is a fast-paced job, with excellent news judgment, and an eagerness to find the most compelling guests to break news to our millions of viewers every morning. You will work closely with senior TODAY leadership, Morning News NOW leadership, and represent the booking team for the overnight and early morning newsgathering teams.


Responsibilities:

  • Will be working on short-term and long-term bookings across the multiple platforms of NBC News
  • Expected to both pitch story ideas and work on assigned stories developed by the editorial team
  • Will be working with the production team for all travel logistics for the guests as well as arranging pre-interviews with segments producers
  • Coordinating and giving direction to all bookers in the field, often times during breaking news
  • Compiling and sending out our daily booking note which details all booking efforts and secured guests
  • Organizing and supporting the handover for our early morning booking team
  • Coordinating our communication across newsgathering operations looking ahead to the next day’s editorial needs

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience working in newsgathering or booking in a local news or national newsroom
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news 
    • Must be able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice if needed
  • Must be willing to travel with little notice, and for extended periods
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

  • Strong knowledge of all social media platforms
  • Knowledge of NBC News Policies and Guidelines and Practices.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events

Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
