Job Description
The Anchor/Multimedia Journalist is responsible for writing, script editing, and delivering news stories daily. They collaborate closely with producers to ensure stories are accurately written and presented on the daily newscasts. Anchors/Multimedia Journalists also provide local and national news and generate ideas to increase ratings. This position will report to the VP of News.
Responsibilities:
- Present newscasts to the viewer in a professional and well-articulated manner, including breaking news during live reports, special community coverage, and reports.
- Responsible for preparing and producing live segments that enhance your journalism and ability to build segments with information that provides substance to our studio and field reporting.
- Be informed and prepared to present different topics and stories during the day to engage and deliver our coverage with excellence and integrity.
- Conduct research to write and present stories that interest the viewer.
- Will shoot, write & edit stories/packages as needed, and conditions permit to attract the viewer’s interest.
- Draft stories, headlines, teases, and news updates for our different platforms, including television, online, and digital platforms.
- Work directly with E.P. and News Producer on story ideas and development.
- Show up to the editorial and station meetings on time and prepare to provide input that enhances our product delivery for the target audience.
- Present a completed story with fair, accurate, and community-relevant content.
- Coordinate, organize, and conduct interviews.
- Develop ongoing “sweeps” style stories that abide by Telemundo Arizona’s news standards, vision, and brand. Adhere to the company mission, vision, and standards.
- Must abide by the NBC – Telemundo News Standards and Guidelines.
- Actively Involved in sharing news content on Social Media platforms.
- Follow NBC – Telemundo social media Policies and Standards
- Maintain a professional image online and on any social media platform that reflects NBC’s Reputation
- Make appearances before social and civic groups and at schools and colleges on behalf of the station.
- This person should continue to invest in their growth as an individual contributor and understand that as a news anchor, they play a critical role in newsroom leaders. Their peers see your example, which must reflect the positive cultural environment we seek in our team.
Qualifications
- BA or BS in a related field
- At least four years of television anchor/reporter experience
- At least four years of experience shooting, writing, and editing with a good track record.
- Strong Spanish language skills (verbal & written)
- Enterprise reporting required.
- Strong live reporting presence necessary
- Be able to multitask and possess strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced news environment.
