Job Description

 

The Public Relations Manager for NBCUniversal in Latin America is responsible for managing the company’s public image. This involves developing and executing communication strategies to promote new content, build relationships with media outlets, handle crises, and maintain a positive brand perception across traditional media and social media in Latin America, including Brazil.

 

The Public Relations Manager also coordinates with public relations agencies in the region to ensure that all NBCUniversal brands receive coverage in mainstream media and remain top-of-mind for Latin American opinion leaders and influencers. Additionally, the manager acts as a liaison to the Original Production team based in Mexico, ensuring that talent is prepared for productions, publicity appearances, including press interviews, advertising sales initiatives, and guest celebrity appearances.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop comprehensive publicity strategies designed to maximize exposure for NBCUniversal's brands, networks, and other interests in Latin America, including Brazil.
  • Build a trusting relationship with representatives from major studios to ensure optimal access to assets and talent.
  • Collaborate closely with the Programming team to identify show highlights and priorities and confirm the scheduling day and time.
  • Supervise the writing of press releases produced by the Pan-regional Public Relations Agency. When necessary, obtain necessary approvals from studios, legal, talent, etc.
  • Work with in-region marketing teams to coordinate activities (events, unboxing production, mailers, screenings, etc) for all NBCUniversal brands, networks, and other regional interests.
  • Oversee the work of four public relations agencies, maintaining ongoing communication to understand their needs and local priorities.
  • Evaluate strategy proposals and media outlets nominations from PR agencies in the region to make sure it’s the best fit for the show and brand target
  • Secure Brand Department approvals for the development of materials featuring NBCUniversal brands.
  • Request vendor quotes, process invoices, and coordinate with the Finance team to ensure timely payments to vendors.
  • Manage and administer the budget via Allocadia.
  • Develop proposals for talent visits and coordinate publicity trips and appearances to promote new acquisitions or priority shows.
  • Organize press communication strategies for new series (press junkets, satellite media tours, set visits, virtual press conferences, etc.)
  • Facilitate content assets for talent to promote their shows on social media and collaborate with the digital team on posting schedules.
  • Coordinate talent appearances and participation in sales initiatives to promote our shows. Liaise with the legal and Original Productions team based in Mexico regarding talent contract development.
  • Process payments and per diem deposits for talent.
  • Make all travel arrangements for talent and their managers or companions, including car service, styling, hair, and makeup.
  • Be present on set to ensure that both in-house and guest talents have the best possible experience.
  • Serve as a liaison between the original production team and Public Relations to obtain all necessary promotional assets for the series.
  • Follow up with Original Production and La Agencia teams for all PR needs (photos, behind-the-scenes shoots, show synopses, etc.)
  • Process talent and assets requests with the Telemundo Talent team.
  • Develop detailed agendas and timelines and deliver them to the talent for all appearances.
  • Coordinate with stylists and makeup artists for talent appearances.
  • Manage unpaid influencer participation in original productions and digital marketing activities.
  • Collaborate with the Insights/Research team to identify trends and influencers relevant to each brand/network's target audience and potential promotional angles for the shows.
  • Conduct background checks on all influencers we work with.
  • Basic design skills to develop email communications to showcase press coverage of shows with a quick turn around
  • Request contracts and legal documents from the Legal team and ensure all are approved and signed before any vendor or talent begins working.
  • Follow up with talent/influencers and their managers to obtain signed legal documents (releases, contracts, etc.).

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations or Journalism.
  • 2+ years or equivalent experience in PR/Communications
  • 2+ years working with the Latin America market
    Previous experience with pay TV and streaming service  
  • Established relations with media outlets in Latin America

Desired Characteristics:

 

  • Publicity experience at a streaming service, premium cable network or related entertainment company is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Basic designing skills, power point, Canva, keynote or any other design software
  • Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to identify coverage opportunities beyond the traditional media outlets, utilize emerging social media trends when promoting series.
  • Extensive relationships with a broad range of media outlets, reporters, bloggers, bookers and influencers in Latin America.
  • Experience interfacing with high-profile talent, top industry executives and media.
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle numerous projects and deadlines within an extremely fast paced and high-volume environment.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Experience keeping a budget and generating no-cost activities that generate buzz and publicity
