The Finance Analyst role based in Amsterdam is part of Universal Pictures International Netherlands OpCo. Universal Pictures, part of NBCU Universal, is one of the oldest movie studios in Hollywood, established in 1912. Universal Pictures is a global producer and distributor of filmed entertainment, with divisions across all areas including theatrical, digital, home entertainment, network and cable television distribution, studio operations, and consumer products and recreation. Universal Pictures International Netherlands is entity distributing a wide range of titles in the Netherlands for 3 studios (Universal, Paramount, and Sony).
As a Finance Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting financial analysis, reporting, and data analytics. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Assistant Controller on accountancy tasks, contributing to day-to-day finance operations while assisting in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, and special projects. This role requires flexibility, a hands-on approach, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Job Description
Accounting, Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Assist with monthly and quarterly financial close processes, including analytical reviews
- Review schedules required for Quarter close: rental and cost accruals, title allocations, rebate accruals & any others as required
- Prepare financial reports, presentations, and analysis of performance metrics
- Support by title P&L pacing, overheads and cash flows forecasting
- Liaise with the Assistant Controller to ensure all postings are made correctly and the accounts are accurately presented
- Primary contact for all adhoc FP&A queries
Data Analytics & Modeling:
- Develop and maintain financial models to support commercial and strategic decision-making.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis to support business operations, identify trends, and recommend actionable insights.
- Become a super-user of SAP and Power-BI, optimizing automated reporting tools
Collaboration & Business Partnering:
- Support the Assistant Controller with day-to-day finance operations, including maintaining accurate financial records and reporting
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to optimize campaign strategies and profitability
- Act as a business partner for special finance projects and support the integration of new reporting tools and process improvements.
Special Projects
- Participate in finance transformation projects focusing on continuous improvement and finance process optimization.
- Lead initiatives to improve the monthly close and reporting process and system enhancements.
- Actively support ad-hoc financial analysis and strategic projects
- Work with International Finance OPCOS and HQ to roll out any new or best practices and knowledge transfer exchange
Qualifications
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in similar role in an international business environment
- Proven experience of Financial Accounting
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data
- Strong Accounting Knowledge
- Hands-on experience with financial reporting, modeling, and variance analysis
- Proficiency in financial accounting systems (SAP preferred) and strong Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative working style
- Fluent in English and Dutch (verbal and written)
- Flexible and adaptable, with a proactive attitude to support cross-functional teams
- Excellent excel and data analysis skills with experience in building models and working with large quantities of data
- Proven team player with a drive for continuous improvement and collaborative working style
