Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Facility Engineer is responsible for conducting building maintenance, planning, inspection and functions of the facility and its MEP systems. The position is part of a team that manages multiple buildings within the Stamford and Monroe campuses and will have responsibilities in building field inspection, construction or design.

Position will be primarily based in Stamford, CT but will be responsible for working out of Monroe, CT on an as-needed basis. The position will also alternate working out of Monroe, CT with the other facility engineers approximately once a month.

Responsibilities:

  • As a facility engineer, you will perform the maintenance required to keep the building and its systems in good working order
  • Maintain a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment through a variety of hands-on tasks.
  • Utilizing the building management system (BMS) to monitor condition of systems and make environmental adjustments as needed
  • Respond to service calls for repairing or installing equipment, lighting systems, kitchen equipment, and power to office spaces, studios, control rooms or data centers
  • Repair minor plumbing leaks, faucets, and fixtures.
  • Address carpentry needs like repairing furniture, doors, and shelves.
  • Monitoring, repairing, and preforming PM on HVAC systems that may include boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, RTU’s, and split systems
  • Addressing plumbing issues as required
  • Aesthetic maintenance such as painting, dry wall, door hardware issues, and snow removal
  • Work with outside contractors as necessary
  • Address carpentry needs like repairing furniture, doors, and shelves.
  • Keep maintenance logs up to date and ensure PM is being completed on time and in accordance to the PM schedule
  • Conduct weekly and monthly EH&S inspections
  • Support after-hours and weekend tasks, as needed, on an overtime basis
  • Maintaining preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting equipment issues, ensuring equipment efficiency.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment through proactive problem-solving and positive communication.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

A minimum five (5) years’ experience in maintenance, repair of systems and equipment listed below

  • Hands-on experience with carpentry, painting and plumbing.
  • Proven working knowledge and understanding of:
    • Emergency generator plants & UPS system
    • Fire pump, fire alarm systems
    • HVAC and other facility management systems
    • Water-cooled chillers, cooling towers, and chilled water distribution
  • Proficiency in MS windows and MS Office
  • Familiarity with building management systems (BMS)
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot problems independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, technical, problem solving

Desired Characteristics:

Connecticut State contractor license (E or S) or equal

  • Electrical power distribution from 13.8kV to 120V
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Preferred Education: Associate's Degree, Technical Degree or equivalent trade school preferred

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
