We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance leader to join our global streaming platform as a Director of Quality Assurance to provide strategic leadership and vision for the best-in-class playback experience for our users.

As a director, you will be responsible for defining and executing a comprehensive and long-term QA strategy across Global Video Engineering’s portfolio of products, including VOD/Live streaming, ad-insertion integrations, and video players. You will lead a global team of managers and individual contributors and scale the team as and when needed to fit business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the video QA function across NBCUniversal’s Direct-to-Consumer portfolio of products, including Peacock and TVEverywhere – setting benchmarks of quality and standards of automation
  • Build and execute a comprehensive QA strategy that spans across functional, regression, automation, and quality of experience testing focused on raising the quality bar and on the reduction of time to market
  • Work closely with software engineering leadership to create and iterate on a seamless and scalable testing process across multiple products, teams and locations
  • Hire, nurture and manage world class team of QA managers and individual contributors, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Drive the adoption of automated testing frameworks and tools to increase testing efficiency and coverage
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to video playback, and champion their adoption within the organization

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science or experience in similar role
  • Minimum of 7 years proven experience in a QA leadership role overseeing video playback testing in a global and fast paced OTT streaming business
  • Proven track record in building and transforming global QA teams and driving the big picture strategy
  • Self-starter with a “can do” attitude focused on building great relationships within the business
  • A leader that that allows for “outside the box” thinking and redefining boundaries where needed to further improve playback experience for our customers
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and nurture a team of managers and individual contributors
  • Effective communicator able to understand business and technical jargons to persuasively communicate in either direction, proficient in translating complex technical issues into easy to understand and concise overview
  • In depth knowledge of video playback technologies, streaming protocols, content delivery networks (CDNs), and associated KPIs
