Paid Internship Opportunity – Safety Review Project (6 Weeks)
Location: Harland & Wolff
Duration: Six‑week paid placement
Eligibility: 1st or 2nd year undergraduate students
Navantia UK/Harland & Wolff is offering an exciting six‑week paid internship designed to give undergraduate students hands‑on experience within a real business environment. This placement provides structured learning, exposure to professional working practices, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to a live engineering project.
About the Role
You will join our engineering and operations teams to carry out a structured safety review of our new production facility, with a particular focus on the automated panel production line. Working alongside experienced specialists, you will assess safety risks, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop practical recommendations that support our commitment to safe and efficient operations.
This role is ideal for students early in their degree who want to build confidence, gain industry insight, and apply academic learning in a real‑world setting.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct safety reviews across production stations, identifying hazards and improvement opportunities.
Develop recommended safety layouts, a hazard register, and a prioritised list of improvement actions.
Compile a clear, professional report summarising findings, analysis, and recommendations.
Present your conclusions to the engineering team at the end of the placement.

Person Specification
- Currently in the 1st or 2nd year of an undergraduate degree.
- An interest in learning about how businesses and teams operate.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to a team.
- Organised approach to tasks and ability to manage time effectively.
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and respond to feedback.
- Basic digital skills, including confidence using standard office software.
Desirable:
- An interest in project work, business improvement, research, or stakeholder engagement.
- Curiosity about how academic study can be applied in a practical workplace context.
