Job Description
Navantia UK/Harland & Wolff are launching our first Summer internship. These are 6 week paid placement opportunities for undergraduates to work within the business.
The aim of this project is to give the individual experience providing digital services to the Operational Team and improve interdepartmental communication with the Facilities team. They will develop an interface (preferable mobile app enabled) for Facilities to provide an up-to-date status report of their equipment and a mechanism for Operations to report defects and track their progress.
Scope of Work
- Review – the intern must spend time reviewing the current process with the Facilities department and understand what assets are being managed.
- Operations – shadow Operations department and investigate what methods would be most practical for management and trades.
- Recommendations- provide a report of the solutions available and the most cost-effective method of solving the problem by gaining buy-in from each department and IT services.
- Implementation – initiate live main equipment status portal and select one area for a trial on defect reporting.
- Monitor – using system generated data, provide a report on new defects raised and viability of roll it to all areas.
Objective of the Internship
- At the end of the 6 weeks the intern will have a Live Portal, an application and a report to demonstrate their ability solve problems.
Qualifications
- Ideally 1st or 2nd year undergraduates studying in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or similar
