Job Description

The Dental Director is responsible for overseeing the dental clinical services and for supervising the dental staff. The Dental Director ensures that quality of dental care meets professional standards and the requirements of regulating agencies.  The dental director also functions as a dentist. The Dental Director works closely with the Health Services Director on administrative operations of dental services. This position may require some work beyond the usual clinic hours. The Dental Director reports directly to the Health Services Director.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Provides supervision, leadership, and guidance to the dental care team with respect to quality of dental care, including anesthesia and surgical procedures, and oral health education.
  2. Responsible for ensuring the quality of dental care provided at Native Health.
  3. Provides guidance to the senior management team in the development of new programs and the delivery of dental services.
  4. Provides comprehensive dental patient care including prevention, oral health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment of acute and chronic conditions, and follow-up services to patients under his/her care within the scope of dentistry practice.
  5. Supports the organization as needed.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Completion of an U.S. accredited dental school is required.
  2. Must have a permanent, current, full and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in Arizona. 
  3. Must have current board certification in dentistry and maintain certification.
  4. Must have current medication dispensing license (DEA).
  5. Must have at least 5 years of experience as a dentist in an outpatient dental practice. Experience in a community health center setting is preferred.
  6. Two years of experience as a dental director or in a senior management role is required. Experience in supervising staff is required.
  7. Must pass a criminal background check with Class 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card within initial ninety (90) calendar days of employment.
  8. Must submit to a random testing during the course of employment.
  9. Must have an updated Immunization (IZ) Record prior to start of employment, including COVID vaccination record.
