Job Description

The Safety and Security Coordinator will focus on securing NATIVE HEALTH’s properties, protecting its employees, patients, clients, and visitors while delivering exceptional customer services and promote a positive safety environment with a proactive approach to compliance by reviewing and initiating mandated safety-related programs for NATIVE HEALTH (NH). This position will have the authority to oversee and implement occupational safety programs, policies, inspections, loss control surveys, complaints, staff training and supervising security guards. The Safety and Security Coordinator ensures NH remains in compliance with State and Federal Occupational Safety and Health standards and regulations and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) safety standards. The Safety and Security Coordinator is the primary driver of the implementation of all regulatory and OSHA requirements and update and oversee successful implementation of security procedures for security guards. Ensure OSHA logs and reporting are current. Facilitate and oversee worker compensation reporting. Create a program to recognize employees for safe work habits. Perform ongoing site surveys for risk and safety compliance. Create and enforce corrective action plans for deficits. Create and facilitate annual employee safety and security fair; develop safety projects and education based on identified improvement opportunities. The position reports directly to the Director of Administrative Services.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, with experience in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Risk Management, Public or Business Administration, or closely related field. Experience working with the American Indian/Alaskan Native population.
  2. Three (3) years of experience in safety, industrial hygiene, injury prevention, and/or occupational health, safety, and security training.
  3. Five (5) years of experience in a Manager position and OSHA and compliance programs preferred.
  4. Possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver’s license (within 30 days of hire if the applicant is from out-of-state) with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years. No more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid AZ driver license during employment. Must be insurable by NATIVE HEALTH’s liability auto policy.
  5. Must pass a criminal background check with a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the initial ninety (90) calendar days of employment.
  6. Must pass a substance abuse test upon employment and submit to random testing during employment.
  7. Must have an updated Immunization Record.
  8. Must have a current (within 12 months) Tuberculosis (TB) skin report upon employment and provide an update annually.
  9. Must obtain a CPR Card within ninety (90) days calendar days of employment and maintain a valid CPR card during employment.
  10. Must be able to carry up to 50lbs.

TRAVEL: Some travel between NATIVE HEALTH sites will be expected as and when needed to support the organization.
