We do this work by strengthening domestic and global governmental public health through advocacy, capacity building, and social justice.

Each of NASTAD's six programmatic teams - Health Care AccessHealth Systems IntegrationDrug User HealthHepatitisHealth Equity, and Prevention - interpret and influence policies, conduct trainings, offer technical assistance, and provide advocacy mobilization for U.S. health departments and ministries of health around the world to improve health outcomes for people living with HIV and viral hepatitis.

NASTAD serves as the Systems Coordination Provider (SCP) for the 47 Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) Parts A and B jurisdictions funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA-20-078), as part of the Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America (EHE) initiative. As part of this work, NASTAD develops tools and resources to assist EHE Phase I RWHAP Part A and B grantees in improving coordination across EHE stakeholders and health systems.

Job Description

The Associate, Drug User Health plays a vital role in expanding the organization’s capacity to address the impacts of the intersecting crises of drug use, HIV/AIDS, and viral hepatitis in community and public health settings, particularly within state and local health departments and Syringe Services Programs (SSPs). The Associate’s core activities will entail administrative and logistical support to NASTAD’s Drug User Health team in the delivery of technical assistance (TA) and training to health department and community-based officials. This position works closely with the team to facilitate effective coordination across multifaceted project activities and deliverables. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Drug User Health and will be expected to work with other NASTAD teams, including Hepatitis, Prevention, Health Care Access, Health Systems Integration, and Health Equity to support cross-program collaborative activities.

Qualifications

·       Provide logistical and administrative support related to conference calls, webinars, and virtual and in-person technical assistance and training events.

·       Coordinate external communication with consultants, partner organizations, TA recipients, and other stakeholders including the management of email listservs and google groups.

·       Support the team in managing ongoing projects with programs and consultants, including coordination with the Finance and Accounting team.

·       Assist with the development of work plans, memos, meeting minutes, and email communications.

·       Manage project-related files by ensuring that all necessary materials are current, properly filed and stored, including updates to public-facing electronic resources.

·       Assist with the review, development, and delivery of technical assistance resources and activities to meet the needs of health department and community-based drug user health and harm reduction programs through the National Harm Reduction TA Center, jurisdictional Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) planning, and other channels.

·       Support project planning, including updates to project management tools and tracking timelines and progress toward deliverables, in alignment with federal grant requirements.

·       Contribute to federal funder reporting and documentation.

·       Assist with the onboarding of new team members.

  • Interact with and respond to the needs of health department and community-based organization staff members in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Expertise, and Education

·       Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (4 years of relevant training or work experience is equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree) and 1-3 years of relevant work experience

·       Experience and/or training in project coordination and administrative support

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel

·       Experience working with cross-functional teams

·       Preferred: prior experience or interest in public health, harm reduction, viral hepatitis, HIV, or a related field
