Job Description

The Senior Manager, Prevention provides leadership and implementation of technical assistance (TA) activities for NASTAD’s Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) project. The position leads community engagement TA for 24 county health departments and six state health departments in the Southern United States and is specifically related to Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) plans. The position will work across NASTAD’s Prevention team to align CBA and EHE-related deliverables, and will lead the development of community engagement strategies for diverse communities, including racial minorities, women, people living with HIV, people who use drugs, people who identify as transgender, people who identify of lesbian, gay or bisexual, and people who are unstably housed. The Senior Manager supervises a team of project consultants and maintains a strong working relationship with external project partner organizations. 

Essential Duties

  • Develop and implement technical assistance related to Community Engagement for EHE Phase I county and state jurisdictions in the South;
  • Develop and implement a TA strategy to identify and engage new and/or nontraditional local partners for the development and/or implementation of EHE plans;
  • Develop and deliver TA to facilitate local partners’ understanding of and participation in the development and implementation of EHE plans;
  • Lead strategic discussions about the alignment of NASTAD’s CBA and EHE-related technical assistance activities;
  • Lead management of sub-award agreements and contracts for project partners and consultants;
  • Participate, as needed, in monitoring calls with CBA program consultant;
  • Participate in cross-team discussions related to monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL);
  • Respond to inquiries from Capacity Building Branch (CBB) leadership and subject matter experts (SMEs) related to NASTAD’s CBA work;
  • Develop technical assistance guidance, products and resources;
  • Maintain strong working relationships with key external partners;  
  • Supervise project consultants;
  • Contribute to project reporting and documentation;
  • Attend and represent NASTAD at conferences and participate in relevant external meetings;
  • Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, and trainings, as appropriate;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications and virtual learning platforms
  • Prior experience or interest in public health, HIV, or a related field is preferred

 

Minimum Qualifications

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent (4 years work experience equivalent to a Bachelor degree), and a minimum of 4 years relevant work experience
  • Prior experience working in public health and/or HIV desired
