Job Description

The Associate/Senior Associate, Prevention will support NASTAD’s Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) program in providing technical assistance to health departments in the southern U.S. to advance efforts related to integrated HIV prevention activities and structural interventions. The ideal candidate will be motivated, highly organized, and able to follow through on tasks with minimal prompting. Demonstrated ability to execute projects in a timely manner and precise attention to detail are required. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Prevention and will be expected to work with other NASTAD teams, including Drug User Health, Hepatitis, Health Care Access, Health Systems Integration, and Health Equity to support cross-program collaborative activities.

Essential Duties

  • Support key activities under NASTAD’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) CBA cooperative agreement, with a focus on the topic areas of HIV Surveillance and Data to Care, with direction from the Senior Manager, Prevention
  • Serve as point-person for tracking and reporting CBA activities to CDC via the online CBA Tracking System (CTS)
  • Assess state and local health department technical assistance and program development needs
  • Contribute to Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning activities within the CBA program and overall NASTAD prevention portfolio
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to the Prevention team related to health department conference calls, webinars, and in-person technical assistance and training events
  • Support the delivery of tailored technical assistance to support health department HIV prevention and surveillance activities
  •  Assist with review and develop technical assistance resources to meet the needs of health department HIV prevention and surveillance programs
  • Develop working relationships with health department staff members and respond in a timely manner to their needs
  • Attend and represent NASTAD at conferences and participate in relevant external meetings
  • Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, and trainings, as appropriate
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 Experience/Education

  • Minimum of 2 years progressive work in public health, public policy or communication related field; or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
