Job Description

  • Cruise Director plays a very strong role on Atlas Ocean Voyages vessels.   From the moment the guests arrive to the moment they depart, the Cruise Director is the ´face´ of the company. They represent the standards and care that each guest will receive during their cruise. 
  • The Cruise Directors’ role is social, technical, and administrative. The expectation of the role is one of being the ‘go-to’ person for the guests.   Always available and always social, the Cruise Director will attend all receptions, and special events and routinely make their presence known onboard visiting public areas and making sure all the guests’ needs are met throughout the day.
  • The Cruise Director is the head of the entertainment department and supervises and evaluates the performance of the department personnel – Pianists, and any other entertainment staff

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Cruise Director is the Master of Ceremonies of all Shows, Events, Captain´s Welcome, and Farewell parties.
  • The Cruise Director is expected to dine with guests frequently, when possible, for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. 
  • The Cruise Director works closely with the Hotel Manager Expedition Leader and/or Shore Excursion manager, and other Department Heads, coordinating the Daily Program and communication needed for the guests.
  • The Cruise Director is responsible for all sound and lighting entertainment equipment in all venues.
  • The Cruise Director will provide headline entertainment. Depending on the length of the cruise, the Cruise Director will perform 1, 2, or 3, 45 mins. shows in one of the entertainment venues.

Qualifications

  • Master of Ceremony or/and professional entertainment experience
  • Strong management skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent verbal and written command of the English language, knowledge of another language(s) is a plus
  • Superior customer service, team building, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skill
