Job Description

The ETO functions and responsibility shall include, but not be limited to: 

  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all electronic equipment and systems onboard . Read and understand Chief Engineers standing orders . 
  • Responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the ship's electrical installations in compliance with regulations and approved work procedures. 
  • To keep the Chief Engineer informed of matters relating to the ship's electrical installations . Monitor the P.A. system, speakers used onboard part of the yacht operation and maintenance of related equipment. 
  • Monitor the maintenance of data system in the ECR. 
  • To assign tasks to the Electricians team and verify that tasks are executed and quality controlled. 
  • Short and long-term planning of service, maintenance, and repairs of electrical installations . Preparation of budget inputs to be submitted to the Chief Engineer . 
  • Timely submission of requisitions for electrical spare parts and supplies to the Chief Engineer. Recording of surveys of the electrical installation . 
  • Participate in routine inspections with the Chief Engineer . 
  • Familiarize himself/herself with regulations and work procedures relativa to tasks to be executed. 
  • Be present in the Engine Control Room during maneuvering into or out of port, in restricted waterways, and otherwise when conditions demand. 
  • Daily updating of work completed, spare parts used, and remaining stocks . 
  • Testing and control of alarm systems, tire detection, and externa! communication loudspeakers. 
  • Monitor performance of TV's and DVD players' in guest cabins. 
  • Monitor and repair safety boxes in cabins. Keeper of safes' master key . 
  • To assign support in connection with shows, lectures, presentations, etc . 
  • Participation in functional tests, as required by Chief Engineer . 
  • Control of hydraulic power pack - watertight doors, automation, engine and control rooms . To always use the correct PPE equipment provided. 

Qualifications

The Electro Technological Officer (ETO) is a licensed member of the engine department of a merchant ship as per Section A-III/6 of the STCW Code. 

Additional Information

The ship's equipment/systems maintained by the ETO include (but are not limited to) electronic and navigation equipment on the bridge, satellite communication system, electronic equipment in the engine control room, ship's entertainment and TV systems including TV sets, ship's telephone system, telephone sets and personal pagers, camera surveillance system, PA system, UPS systems, fire detection systems, fire and water-tight doors control systems. He is also responsible to ensure proper maintenance of entertainment systems and stage equipment - show lights, audio/video, platform lifts and theatre curtains.
