Job Description
The Radio Operator is responsible for maintaining effective communication between the rig, vessels, helicopters, shore-based offices, emergency services, and other relevant parties.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor marine, aviation, and rig communication systems.
- Maintain continuous communication with vessels, helicopters, shore bases, and relevant authorities.
- Receive and transmit operational and emergency messages accurately.
- Maintain communication logs and records.
- Monitor emergency and distress communication channels.
- Support helicopter and vessel movement coordination.
- Disseminate weather, operational, and safety information as required.
- Test and maintain communication equipment.
- Report equipment faults and coordinate repairs.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive communications.
- Support emergency response and mustering activities.
- Comply with applicable communication and radio operating procedures.

Qualifications
- Minimum of OND/NCE in Telecommunications, Radio Communications, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience as a Radio Operator, preferably in marine, offshore, or oil & gas operations.
- Relevant radio communication certification/licence as required by applicable regulations.
- Knowledge of marine and/or aviation communication procedures is an advantage.
- Experience operating VHF/HF/UHF and other communication systems.
- Valid offshore safety certification and medical fitness where applicable.
