Job Description

The Floorman supports the Driller and Derrickman in the safe and efficient execution of drilling operations on the rig floor. The role is responsible for handling drill pipe and tubulars, assisting with connections and tripping operations, maintaining drilling equipment, and ensuring the rig floor is clean, safe, and operationally ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Driller and Derrickman during drilling, tripping, casing, and completion operations.
  • Handle drill pipes, collars, tubulars, slips, elevators, tongs, and other drilling equipment.
  • Assist with making and breaking pipe connections.
  • Operate manual and power tongs as authorized and trained.
  • Assist with the installation, removal, and maintenance of drilling equipment.
  • Inspect drilling tools and equipment before and during operations.
  • Assist with rig-up and rig-down activities.
  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping on the drill floor and surrounding work areas.
  • Assist with lifting and rigging activities in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Report equipment defects, unsafe conditions, and operational abnormalities.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, drills, and training.
  • Comply with Permit to Work, JSA/JHA, and other operational procedures.
  • Support well-control and emergency response activities when required.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Driller or Rig Management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Secondary School Certificate, OND, or relevant technical qualification.
  • Previous drilling-rig experience is preferred.
  • Experience as a Roustabout or other junior drilling position is an advantage.
  • Relevant rig operations or drilling training is desirable.
  • Valid offshore safety and medical certification where applicable.
  • Physically fit and able to work in demanding rig environments.
