Job Description
Role Summary
The Technical Lead will oversee all technical, mechanical, and operational aspects of service delivery. This role requires strong expertise in fuel logistics, fleet and equipment maintenance, operational planning, and technical team leadership. The successful candidate will ensure that all equipment, vehicles, and systems operate at optimal capacity to support bulk delivery, maritime fueling, emergency operations, procurement, and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Technical Leadership
Lead and supervise technical teams responsible for maintaining delivery trucks, pumps, meters, and fuel-handling equipment.
Ensure fleet and equipment readiness for bulk delivery, maritime fuel operations, and emergency services.
Implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure service reliability.
Conduct routine inspections across sites, vessels, and facilities.
Technical Direction & Troubleshooting
Provide expert guidance on diesel engines, fuel logistics systems, and mechanical diagnostics.
Approve major repairs, technical specifications, and equipment upgrades.
Lead investigations into failures or breakdowns and implement long-term corrective actions.
Promote modern tools such as digital monitoring, GPS/telemetry, and fuel management systems.
Fuel Management & Maritime Support
Oversee fuel monitoring systems and client inventory management solutions.
Ensure maritime fueling operations meet safety and regulatory standards.
Coordinate technical preparations for marine fuel transfers and offshore deliveries.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Enforce quality control for fuel handling, storage, delivery, and technical operations.
Ensure compliance with NMDPRA, marine standards, HSE protocols, and environmental regulations.
Monitor KPIs such as fleet uptime, delivery efficiency, and incident rates.
Team Management & Development
Allocate technical manpower for daily operations, emergency deployments, and projects.
Recruit, train, and mentor technicians and maintenance staff.
Conduct performance evaluations and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Risk Management & Emergency Preparedness
Identify and mitigate operational and mechanical risks.
Develop contingency plans for emergency fuel delivery and system failures.
Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and preventive measures.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Introduce innovations in fuel logistics, fleet technology, and digital tools.
Standardize technical procedures to improve efficiency and reliability.
Drive initiatives that reduce operational costs and boost performance.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Logistics Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5–8 years technical experience in fuel logistics, haulage operations, petroleum services, or similar sectors.
Proven leadership experience managing technical or maintenance teams.
Experience with maritime fueling operations is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, mechanical systems, pumps, meters, and fuel-handling equipment.
Proficiency in fleet management, preventive maintenance planning, and equipment diagnostics.
Familiarity with fuel monitoring systems, GPS/telemetry, and digital fleet tools.
Strong understanding of HSE standards, NMDPRA regulations, and marine safety protocols.
Soft Skills
