Our client is a fast-growing energy infrastructure and services company operating across the oil, gas, and power value chain. Their focus is on strategic partnerships, gas commercialization, and high-impact infrastructure that advance Nigeria’s energy security agenda. They work closely with key national stakeholders, including NNPC Limited, its subsidiaries (NGML, NNPCL E&P, NMDPRA, etc.), and leading IOCs to unlock sustainable value across the sector.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for originating, structuring, and closing large-ticket commercial transactions with NNPC, its subsidiaries, and international oil companies (IOCs). This role demands a highly connected, strategic, and commercially savvy professional with a deep understanding of Nigeria’s oil and gas ecosystem, proven deal-closing capacity, and the ability to translate relationships into long-term business growth.

Job Description

Deal Origination & Pipeline Development:

  • Identify, originate, and pursue high-value commercial opportunities with NNPC Limited, NGML, NNPCL E&P, NPDC, TotalEnergies, Shell, Chevron, Seplat, and other IOCs.

Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain senior-level relationships with key decision-makers within NNPC, DPR/NMDPRA, IOCs, and energy regulators. Position the company as a preferred partner for strategic projects.

Strategic Bidding & Partnerships:

  • Lead or support consortium formation, technical and commercial bid preparation, and government engagement for JV projects, EPC contracts, gas supply agreements, and infrastructure developments.

Commercial Structuring & Negotiation:

  • Structure commercial deals, draft proposals, lead negotiations, and secure MOUs, LOIs, and contracts for projects in gas supply, pipeline development, energy infrastructure, and EPC services.

Market Intelligence & Strategy:

  • Track sectoral developments, NNPC priorities, IOC budgets, and policy changes to anticipate opportunities and align company strategy with national energy objectives.

Revenue Growth:

  • Deliver measurable revenue and margin growth through large-ticket deal closures, strategic partnerships, and long-term contract awards.

Cross-Functional Coordination:

Work with internal technical, finance, and legal teams to prepare winning proposals, structure bankable projects, and ensure seamless deal execution.

Key Deliverables:

• Closed deals with NNPC or IOCs (target: ≥50m usd annual deal value)

• Secured MOUs / Framework Agreements with NNPC subsidiaries or key IOCs

• Increased project pipeline of strategic oil and gas infrastructure opportunities

• Strengthened visibility and positioning with NNPC and regulators

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or related field (MBA or equivalent preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in business development, commercial, or strategy roles within the oil and gas sector
  • Demonstrated track record of closing multi-million-dollar transactions with NNPC, NGML, NNPCL E&P, NPDC, or IOCs
  • Strong understanding of Nigeria’s gas value chain, upstream–midstream–downstream integration, and government contracting structures
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Deep network and credibility with senior industry players and regulators

Highly competitive base salary, performance-linked bonuses, transaction commissions, and executive benefits commensurate with experience and performance.

Reporting Line:

Reports directly to the Managing Director/CEO
