Company Description

Our client is a foremost news media organization and is seeking a hire a Chief Financial Officer. As a key business partner, your role serves as the day-to-day point of contact for the CEO and the Board, providing support for accounting transactions, and key business initiatives including integration of financial activities, new acquisitions, investments, divestments, analysis, and compliance activities. You are also responsible for the coordination of the cash flow forecast, budget, and process supporting the organization. 

 

Job Description

  • Overseeing all accounting and account balancing procedures for each company production project.

  • Communication between National and Bureau locations production personnel related to accounting operations.

  • Overseeing the proper procedural handling of production-related financial matters, such as receiving statements and balancing accounts related to production progress payments.

  • Coordinate with National and Bureau locations personnel in the accounting area related to production, distribution, marketing, technical, financial, and legal areas.

  • Review and advise as needed concerning aspects of producing the Projects, such as casting, production schedules, physical production, script modifications, cost control, budgeting, talent issues, visual effects, and others.

  • Monitor and manage all Projects that the Company invests in, and to do their best in making all projects successful.

  • Analyze industry trends and market developments, advising on potential consequences for company and presenting recommendations to senior management  

  • Effectively bring together a range of source information and data to highlight business issues and potential options to help resolve problems and mitigate risk

  • Provide financial analysis to support performance information and plans 

  • Analyze and review financial and business information effectively for business insights 

  • Analyze financial and non-financial data, performance, risks and issues to identify underlying business trends or themes that need to be addressed and put forward possible solutions/ recommendations 

  • Contribute to the preparation of business cases/ investment proposals on behalf of the division 

  • Manage the bank reconciliation processes and ensure all banks are completely analysed and reconciled daily.

  • Post transactions daily using accrual basis of accounting.

  • Post all end of the month adjustments.

  • Draw up trial balance 

  • Maintain an up to date Fixed Assets Register and do quarterly fixed assets count.

  • Manage all payables and ensure payments are processed as at when due.

  • Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current technology or designated ERP 

  • Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements (make VAT and PAYE returns to relevant tax authorities) 

  • Participate in the budget development, evaluation, and monitoring. 

  • Perform data entries in ERP for other transactions as delegated/ when required

  • Perform all other functions as may be assigned by the CEO

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Minimum of 12 years relevant work experience with at least 7 years demonstrated experience in a leadership/management position.

  • Good understanding of finance principles with the ability to build and maintain complex financial models; Professional accounting qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent an advantage

  • Advanced knowledge of, and experience with, accounting principles and concepts, and financial analysis and reporting, including IFRS, GAAP 

  • Experience of multi-site and multi-currency reporting.

  • Diverse work experiences with cross functional teams.

  • Experience working with ERP, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, SAGE etc with Strong technical computing skills.

  •  Experience of the review and analysis of financial data from a range of source information to identify trends or themes and to suggest solutions/recommendations. 

  • Ability to take complex data/principles and to communicate these in an understandable way to the wider team. 

  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively. Managing deadlines and conflicting demands. Using initiative and external thinking to resolve day-to-day problems.

  • Experience of presenting ideas in a variety of formats for different audiences including written papers/reports and presentations.

  • Proficient in all MS Office applications, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

  • Experience in Financial Reporting.

  •  Must be able to analyse financial data and prepare/review various types of financial information: reports, schedules, journal entries, etc.

  • Able to communicate in English fluently.

  • Must have a high level of job integrity.
