Job Description

he HR Adviser is required to:

  • Providing support in employee relations, ensuring all advice aligns with HR policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Collaborating closely with HR Operations to ensure efficient, compliant, and effective HR services from job offer acceptance to employee offboarding.
  • Advising on individual employee relations, encompassing areas such as absence, well-being, engagement, complaints, performance issues, disciplinary actions, and personal development.
  • Collaborating with the HR team to enhance processes and create an optimal working environment for our employees. 
  • Handle all administrative tasks related to the biannual appraisal exercise for all staff.
  • Support the prompt processing of payroll monthly.
  • Liaise with the HMO/ Medical retainership for staff upon request.
  • Assist in conducting recruitment, selection, placement, and onboarding when assigned.
  • Conduct exit interviews for junior personnel.
  • Involved in handling staff complaints/ grievances and escalating to management when required.
  • Assist in renewing Organisational statutory certificates (PENCOM, GROUP LIFE, NSITF, ITF, etc.) and Vessel certificates yearly.
  • Draft internal and external memos and letters when required to do so.
  • Involved in community relations interface.
  • Be responsible for your health and safety and that of others affected by your actions at work.
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Management.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes Required

  • Knowledge of relevant Marine labor legislations (MLC 2010, MIMASA requirements, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  1. University degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Relations, and communication or other related/relevant area. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  2. Relevant professional qualifications such as CIPM, CIPD, SHRM, or HRCI certifications will be advantageous.
  3. A Professional Diploma in Crew Management is desired.
  4. 4 – 5 years cognate work experience in HR practice  in a reputable Marine and/or structured business environment.
  5. Ability to listen, negotiate, influence all categories of people, and act calmly and reasonably even under pressure.
  6. Excellent communication skills.
