Company Description

Our client is an Africa-focused developer of measurable and impactful zero-emission projects under a technology-driven Ecosystem, with a pipeline of projects pertaining to electro - mobility and energy efficiency, commercial electric vehicle charge point operations, and clean power supply systems, at very advanced stages of their development.

The business will operate as a corporate and commercial fleet offered to commuters using EVs in a Technology-Driven Ecosystem with both hardware and software participation. The venture is planned for implementation in two phases, i.e. the Pilot Phase and the Commercial Phase, as collaboration is a Key Success Factor required for an ecosystem to exist, both phases will be driven by multiple partnerships and collaborations. The Venture will be operated as a green mobility commercial fleet with support from sustainability partners.

Running the pilot phase is expected to provide a better understanding of the routes that will be used for enhancing the venture's delivery of a ride-hailing app and trip monitoring in order to accelerate the learning curve.

Job Description

  • Plan, develop, organize, direct, manage, and evaluate the operations and budget of company
  • Direct the activities of staff in relation to transportation operations, including dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles
  • Direct the effectiveness of private, third party and contract carriage systems
  • Work with international carriers and freight forwarders to streamline the flow of goods across international borders and through customs
  • Plan, develop, and implement transportation health and safety, and security programs and activities
  • Develop and communicate transportation policies and procedures
  • Monitor operations to ensure that staff comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations
  • Develop and implement profit improvement plans and change management plans
  • Negotiate and authorize contracts, and direct procurement related to transportation operational needs
  • Direct and manage corporate governance and regulatory compliance procedures related to transportation activities
  • Develop key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the transportation operations
  • Conduct investigations to determine causes of transportation accidents and to improve safety procedures
  • Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints
  • Interview, select, coach, train, manage, and appraise the performance of transportation personnel, including crew members
  • Mentor select transportation staff
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships
  • Remain current with latest transportation technology systems and procedures
  • Negotiate with carriers, warehouse operators and insurance company representatives for services and preferential rates
  • Prepare management recommendations, such as proposed fee and tariff increases or schedule changes
  • Recommend or authorize capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property to increase efficiency and services of transportation operations

Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience in transportation fleet management, business development, e-commerce, finance, supply chain management
  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities, with a track record of resolving complex issues within the supply chain
  • A strategic mindset with to develop and implement long term plans and initiatives to drive company’s success
  • Demonstrated success in managing and growing a portfolio of established, mature account relationships.
  • Strong collaborator that works well cross-functionally, across the company, and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to inspire creativity throughout the organization.
  • A high degree of analytical acumen and demonstrated ability to project and assess the commercial impact of current and proposed sales practices.
