Our Client is a pioneer provider of quality radio and the first privately owned television station in Akwa Ibom State and its environs. They operate Radio Stations and a TV Station with viewing on StarTimes Cable and they are also in the process of coming on DSTv.

They seek to hire a Head of Station for their television who is a seasoned journalist, who has in-depth expertise and experience in journalism. As Head of Station you participate in cross-functional strategy and planning discussions and subsequent departmental execution. You are tasked with developing and executing strategic and operational plans for the Client's business that results in audience growth and deepened community engagement.
Job Description
- Serve as a creative head for the station by initiating innovative ideas and developing ideas for new programs
- Upgrade, recommend, and implement changes to existing programs
- Research and analyze viewer’s preferences and tendencies
- Based on global best practice and viewer’s inclinations, create programming schedule and ensure it is complied with
- Perform hands-on production and directorial functions
- Develop a cost effective budget for the station
- Ensure compliance with NBC and other regulatory body rules
- Develop and implement marketing, promotional and social media strategies
- Train and coach staff to better equip them on industry best practices
- Act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the station
- Contribute to the overall success of the organization by performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Ten (10) years of experience cumulatively including management, sales/promotions/advertising, technical, news, creative/presenting, production, and directional(both in-studio and outside broadcast) aspects of broadcasting
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field
- Hands-on experience with the technical unit of broadcasting including broadcast and control room software/equipment.
- Ability to think creatively, critically, and strategically
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and solve problems
- Possess active knowledge of industry trends and the ability to translate that into working strategies for the station
