The Aerospace Electronics Assembler Lead oversees a team of assemblers responsible for the production, assembly, and testing of aerospace electronic components and systems. This role ensures compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules while providing technical guidance, training, and daily leadership to the assembly team.

 

Job Description

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of electronic assemblers to meet production goals, quality standards, and delivery timelines.

  • Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, work instructions, and schematics to ensure accurate assembly and installation of aerospace electronic components.

  • Perform hands-on assembly, soldering, wiring, crimping, and harness fabrication as needed.

  • Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications; resolve assembly issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to ensure compliance with company standards, aerospace regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production planning teams to address design changes, material shortages, or process improvements.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including production reports, rework logs, and inspection records.

  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and other applicable aerospace standards.

  • Promote and enforce safety protocols, proper use of tools/equipment, and clean workspace practices.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or current Green Card holder (due to ITAR and/or government contract requirements).

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in electronics preferred.

  • 5+ years of electronics assembly experience in the aerospace or defense industry, including at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of electronic assembly techniques, soldering standards, wire harness fabrication, and component installation.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production reporting.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • IPC and/or J-STD certification highly preferred.
