Job Description

A Day in the Life

  • Munson Healthcare is seeking a Senior Clinical Informaticist with a focused emphasis on revenue-impacting clinical workflows across the continuum of care. This role functions within the Health Informatics team, partnering with clinical, operational, revenue cycle, and Information Systems stakeholders to ensure workflows are designed, implemented, and optimized so that services provided are accurately documented, captured, and reflected downstream.
  • Consistent with the Senior Clinical Informaticist role, this position applies clinical informatics expertise, workflow design, and system optimization to improve clinical and operational workflows, support end users, and advance organizational priorities. This includes ensuring that the workflow steps required across the care continuum — from registration, admission, and orders through documentation, services performed, and discharge-related processes — are aligned to support accurate capture of services provided and alignment with downstream processes.
  • This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of approximately 40–60% on-site presence (hospital or clinic settings), balanced with remote work. On-site support may vary based on project work, go-live activities, and operational or customer needs.

What You’ll Focus On

While operating within the broader Clinical Informatics role, this position will have a primary area of focus supporting revenue stream workflows across the continuum, including:

  • Supporting optimization of clinical and operational workflows that influence charge capture and downstream billing readiness across inpatient, ambulatory, procedural, and ancillary settings
  • Partnering with registration, admitting, nursing, providers, ancillary departments, utilization management, care coordination, and operational leaders to ensure workflows support accurate capture of services and clinical activity
  • Translating real-world workflow steps — including registration, admission, orders, documentation, service delivery, and discharge-related activities — into effective EHR workflow design and system solutions
  • Ensuring alignment across workflows impacting registration, documentation, order entry, service capture, charge-triggering activity, and downstream coding/billing processes
  • Identifying gaps between actual care delivery workflows and system design that may result in missed, delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate capture of care provided
  • Providing at-the-elbow support, rounding, and real-time workflow observation to validate that required workflow steps are occurring correctly in practice
  • Advancing workflow standardization and ongoing optimization efforts that improve capture accuracy, documentation integrity, throughput, and clinician usability

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as an informatics liaison between clinical end users, operational leaders, revenue cycle partners, and Information Systems
  • Analyze, design, configure, test, and support clinical information systems and workflows
  • Act as a consultant for process redesign and workflow improvement initiatives, with focus on revenue-impacting clinical workflow integrity
  • Identify and validate workflow gaps impacting registration, documentation, order entry, service capture, and downstream charge/billing readiness
  • Support project implementation, change management, and user adoption
  • Identify, triage, and coordinate resolution of system and workflow issues
  • Participate in governance, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration efforts
  • Perform rounding and engagement with clinical and operational teams to maintain strong communication and alignment between care delivery workflows and system design

Qualifications

What’s Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a licensed or certified healthcare professional role or a minimum of 2 years in the role of Clinical Informaticist at a MHC facility with demonstrated ability to successfully understand and interact in the clinical environment per defined criteria.
  • Experience with the Electronic Health Record and Clinical Provider Order Entry (CPOE) required.
  • Schedule flexibility is required to accommodate customer needs

Preferred

  • Clinical or operational experience with strong understanding of workflow steps that influence charge capture, service capture, or downstream billing readiness
  • Experience supporting inpatient, ambulatory, procedural, or ancillary workflows within an EHR environment
  • Familiarity with Oracle Health (Cerner) or similar EHR platforms, including workflow optimization
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze workflows, document current and future states, and lead process improvement efforts
  • Experience working across interdisciplinary teams, including clinical staff, registration/admitting, ancillary departments, utilization management, care coordination, and operational partners
  • Understanding of how workflow design decisions affect documentation integrity, service capture accuracy, operational performance, and downstream financial outcomes
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to engage frontline staff, leaders, and cross-functional partners
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clinical and operational language
