Job Description

Primary roles and functions:

  • Identifies, evaluates, and develops existing and prospective retail channel presences for assigned store business units (i.e. business development), keeping in mind the primary metrics guiding store health: foot-traffic saturation, traffic-to-sales conversion, and cost-efficiency. This includes working with the community/trade team to coordinate social media blasts, and/or coordinating with the brand/category teams to coordinate seasonal promotional initiatives.
  • Takes command responsibility over the conceptualization, development, reinforcement, and evaluation of store operations and channel operations organizational structures. Is ultimately responsible for managing, motivating, assessing, and developing performance + well-being of ground staff and store team.
  • Develops, sets, and implements/oversees the implementation of key physical and visual guidelines that are to govern the business’s many physical retail operations presences. Said presences include but aren’t limited to: in-line stores, pop-ups, traditional retail presences, event spaces and booths, etc.
  • Establishes and implements effective store monitoring systems to manage personnel attendance, inventory offtake/variances, and other relevant store health metrics. Will be asked to not just troubleshoot, but actively solve operational problems as they come (e.g. with respect to personnel motivation, growing inventory variances, etc).
  • Works with the community team to actively improve and champion innovations with respect to the shopper experience. This involves having command-responsibility for customer service standards, health and sanitation standards, broadening payment options/terms, and keeping stores/channels under their care relevant, convenient, and trendy.

Qualifications

Educational:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Management, or some similar equivalent

Work:

  • 1-3 years work experience, preferably in the health, wellness, and retail industry
  • Work experience preferably within the following fields: fashion, retail merchandising, retail store/channel operations, and/or trade marketing

Skills and qualifications:

  • Technical skills:
  • Basic proficiency with MS Office programs, knows his/her way around a Powerpoint/Keynote
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency with MS Excel and/or Google Sheet, best if knows his/her way around a pivot table, as well as slightly more intermediate functions
  • Rationale behind this is because he/she will be in charge of tracking store inventory variances
  • Bonus if he/she knows his/her way around basic business management frameworks, though this is not required

Soft skills:

  • Methodical, organized, detail-oriented and willing to foster new processes in operational areas that do not yet have them
  • Friendly and articulate, with experience and ability to handle both VIP clients and entry-level/contractual sales associates and maintenance staff
