ABILITY TO SPEAK SPANISH IS REQUIRED

Position is 234 days and 12 paid Holidays; a typical work week Monday - Friday with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week.  Some evening and occasional Saturday is required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Serves as the Parent Engagement content area expert and is responsible for providing comprehensive family services and training for parents and volunteers that support the agency’s school readiness plan. Collaborates with community agencies and adult education resources, monitors family records, and conducts parent training and other special activities and events. Works with parent groups and provides parent training and support as outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Parent, Family and Community Engagement Framework (PFCE) and the 2007 Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act.  Implements the National Fatherhood and Male Initiative at the agency level and works with management to develop strategies that facilitate PFCE activities with the goal they be carried out throughout the entire organization. Responsible for the agency’s overall transition planning. Functionally supervises assigned Family Advocates.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a BA degree in Social Services, Psychology, Family Studies, Human Services or related field. SSW or CSW is desirable.
  • Must have a minimum of two years experience providing social services for low-income clientele or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  •  Three years relevant supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education with demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations in personnel supervision, communications, and budget management.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
  • Ability to use a computer to collect, record, and retrieve data and prepare reports.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and administer activities.
  • Ability to plan, formulate and execute record keeping procedures in accordance with assigned duties. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work load and meet strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of community resources and how to access services for children and families.
  • Well versed in family dynamics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, subordinates, parents, Board members, community groups, and other related agencies and people.
