Motion Picture Film Specialist/Colorist – System Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Operate film scanning equipment, video servers, automation systems, and other media network equipment
  • Enter metadata for each film archive using the media asset management system
  • File management and data entry
  • Basic video editing, media file transcoding, color correcting, and network delivery to customers
  • Effectively multi-task and work independently with little supervision
  • Interface with JSC organizational internal clients, as well as inter-center agency clients to determine film processing requirements
  • Coordinate with internal departments such as Johnson TV, Mission Video, Digital Mastering System (DMS), and Cataloging (archive).
  • Detail oriented and creative

  • Maintain professionalisms and service-oriented attitude at all times
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Additional duties as needed

EXPERIENCE

  • Technical knowledge and experience in all formats on motion picture film and IT systems
  • General Knowledge of motion picture film and color space
  • Experience working with Film Scanners and/or Telecine
  • Experience working with a multimedia asset management system
  • Experience with coloring film and digital files
  • Experience with Preparing, cleaning, splicing and examining all formats of motion picture film (8mm, 16mm, 35mm, magnetic and optical sound on film)
  • Knowledge of television broadcast capabilities including television, streaming
  • Knowledge of non-linear editing, fundamental video production concepts, wave form and vector scopes
  • Experienced colorist using Autodesk Lustre, DaVinci Resolve, Filmlight Baselight or other related professional color grading software
  • Understanding of long term and short term archival processes (LTO tape, object storage, NAS/SAN storage)
  • Must have general knowledge of various digital files and data formats
  • Must possess solid technical knowledge in all phases of post-production: Video compression standards, IT systems, aspect ratios, frame rates, file management, and HD/4K post production workflows on Mac OS, Windows PC, and Linux
  • Must be self-motivated and dependable

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor degree in Communications, Radio/Television/Film or related field, or five years experience in the film/television industry
