Job Description
The Security Analyst – AWS Cloud Centric is responsible for performing technical analysis of AWS cloud applications, services and infrastructure to ensure that JPL’s systems are maintaining a secure computing environment. Has the Day to day responsibilities of analyzing, recommending, developing, implementing, maintaining and monitoring systems and processes that protect JPL’s business and information – specifically for cloud-based IT but may also assist with on-premise systems and services. This position will report to the JPL Cyber Security Operations manager and take direction from the JPL Cloud architects and engineers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages and maintains AWS security governance policies, including custom IAM policies, security groups, NACLs, and S3 bucket policies
- Reviews and makes recommendations on exceptions to standard AWS security controls
- Monitors and assists with the implementation of AWS in-house and COTS security capabilities
- Conducts and automates cyber security audits of AWS accounts and resources
- Assists Audit and Vulnerability Assessment team in conducting audits of JPL’s AWS environment
- Participates as a member of the Security Operation Center as an AWS subject matter expert
- Documents and delivers enhancements to JPL’s AWS environment at the direction of JPL’s cloud architects and engineers
- Provides cyber security support for AWS users, including but not limited to, creating necessary IAM roles/service users.
- To qualify, you should possess bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline, 3+ years of AWS cloud experience with a focus on cyber security and account management and the following background:
- Understanding of AWS boto, CLI, SDKs
- Working knowledge of python, or some other programming/scripting language for automation of SDKs
- Strong ability to read, interpret, write, and correct AWS IAM and other security related policies
- Experience developing on native AWS capabilities, including serverless architectures to deploy and manage security solutions
- Hands-on experience with Splunk for automated log review, alerting, and data analytics
- AWS certification preferred
- CISSP or other industry recognized cyber security certification preferred
- Extensive experience with all aspects of AWS GovCloud
