Job Description
This role serves as a key member of the team's senior leadership, working closely with the Partner(s) to drive operational excellence. The Director of Operations is responsible for day-to-day team management, translating strategic objectives into actionable initiatives, and serving as the lead liaison to the Enterprise Service Team. This position combines hands-on operational oversight with strategic planning to ensure the team meets its goals while maintaining compliance and fostering a high-performance culture.
Essential Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Collaborate with Partners in setting and driving team vision, operations strategy, and staffing levels
- Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing team-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning
- Design and implement operational strategies, plans, and procedures aligned with short and long-term team objectives
- Participate in growth activities including strategic partnerships and integration efforts as applicable
Operations & Process Excellence
- Identify and implement best practices to optimize productivity, team structure, and process effectiveness
- Act as operational leader by proactively addressing issues, identifying efficiency opportunities, maximizing use of Moneta's technology platform, and improving work product quality
- Oversee processes that optimize client experience and ensure consistent service delivery
- Serve as lead liaison to the Enterprise Service Team, facilitating communication and resolution of operational issues
- Oversee approval processes and communications for expense reimbursements, business development payments, team expenses, timecards, PTO, and payroll
- Ensure compliance with firm policies and RIA regulatory requirements, taking appropriate action when necessary
- Manage a select portfolio of client accounts to develop a comprehensive understanding of the team's core business operations, member responsibilities, and workflow capacity
Financial Management & Reporting
- Develop and manage team-level financial budgeting, projections, and reporting for the Partner group
- Partner with Moneta's accounting, finance, and business intelligence departments
- Develop reports on team performance and provide insights and recommendations to support informed decision-making
- Provide KPI reporting to Partners and team leadership
- Utilize financial modeling and business intelligence analytics for data-driven decisions
People & Culture
- Oversee team operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and that team goals are met
- Lead and develop team members to encourage maximum performance and dedication
- Support effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
- Plan and execute culture-building experiences and activities
- Participate in team committees as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field required
- 5+ years of progressive operations experience, preferably within financial services
- 5+ years in leadership role managing teams of 10+ employees, with demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams
- Direct experience with RIA operations, custodial platforms, and portfolio management systems preferred
- Understanding of RIA regulatory requirements and SEC compliance standards preferred
- Expertise with major custodial platforms (Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing, TD Ameritrade, etc.)
- Proficiency with portfolio management systems (e.g., Orion, Black Diamond, Tamarac, Addepar)
- Strong change management and project management skills with track record of successful implementations
- Executive presence with ability to present to senior leadership
- Authorized to work in the United States
