Job Description

To support and assist the transport team to ensure that all despatch and scheduling functions are completed in a timely and accurate manner. The role will also adhere to government regulations and rules regarding the transportation of goods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle Scheduling
  • Load Planning
  • Route Optimisation
  • Records Management
  • Maintenance Scheduling
  • Maintaining delivery schedules and track deliveries to ensure that deliveries are met
  •  Update and provide tracking information to customers as well as internal managers
  • Manage daily changes to the schedule
  • Monitor and report driver issues such as 
    • Accidents
    • Safety concerns
    • Licensing issues
  • Analyse delivery costs and recommend more cost effective routes
  • Liaise with outside transportation companies
  • Assign drivers routes
  • Handle customer complaints 
  • Investigate delivery issues
    • These may include damaged products and late deliveries 
  • Liaise with other internal departments such as sales and accounts 

Salary Information:

Basic Salary - £27,112 (with the potential of overtime)

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of current transport rules and regulations such as:
    • load configurations
    • weights
    • truck and trailer allocation
    • permits
    • dangerous goods
    • Strong interpersonal skills 
    • Familiarity with transport industry practices and professional standards
    • Previous experience of compliance administration
    • Previous administration experience including producing and Excel reports is essential 
    • Transport/Logistics experience within a recent or similar role 
    • Aware of logistics risks
    • Customer service experience
